"I think you know." Alicia spoke clearly into the phone line on the pillar of the raised platform opposite the Tower, where Strand would often lay the stage for outsiders to perform their cases for wanting to have a place inside, and also where he would often deny them.
After saying goodbye to Morgan, preparing a plan, reconnecting with Ezra and my roots to home, and allowing ourselves a moment to breathe, we had made our way to the Tower with the promise to finally take Strand down.
"He's somewhere safe with the baby." Alicia continued into the phone line, indicating that Strand was asking after Morgan.
I squinted my eyes as I watched Strand's figure rest against the edge of the rooftop. He was peering through what looked to be a set of binoculars while he engaged in conversation with Alicia. Several guards surrounded him, and then I spotted the man I had met with Morgan... Wes. I hummed quietly in realisation that he had made it back to the Tower in one piece, despite the wound I gave him and the trap Morgan and I set at the bunker.
"Fine. One drink." Alicia hung the phone back on its box.
"What does that mean?" Sarah asked.
"It means he has a plan." Alicia responded before turning to face us.
"Did he tell you what he wants?" Sherry pressed for answers.
Before Alicia said a single word, her gaze fell to me. I scoffed as I looked up to the sky in disbelief. "He wants you in the Tower. He said... he'll give you one final chance to come peacefully, and if you don't then he'll take you by force."
"You serious?" Dwight questioned in concern, only to receive a firm nod from Alicia.
While Ezra became enraged and spewed out his fuelled words, I went through my options and deduced the most opportunistic and successful.
"This is what's gonna happen in thirty seconds time." I cut in with a stern enough voice to silence everyone from their expressive opinions. I turned my head over my left shoulder and then my right, memorising everyones positions. "Daniel, in twenty six seconds you're gonna tackle me from behind. I want you to take me from the back of my right knee and hold me in lock."
"Bella—"
"We don't have time!" I whisper shouted, keeping my back toward the Tower and, more importantly, Strand and his binoculars. "Each of you do exactly as I say and do not ask questions." Ezra huffed down his anger before nodding in submission, trusting my instinct as he always had done. "Dwight, I want you to raise your rifle at Ezra in seventeen seconds. Sarah, raise your gun at Ali in fifteen—"
"She's counting down..."
"And Sherry and Luciana, you'll be aiming your rifles at Miya in thirteen." I breathed out deeply, puffing my lips as I prepared myself for the pain that was about to follow. "Once the stage has been set, Daniel is the only person qualified enough to keep me in hold so he'll have to come with us to make it look real. So Daniel whatever you do, you treat me like a prisoner- you make it look believable."
