Glenn's POV

"You know what this just reminded me of?" I asked quietly, staring blankly at the grim wall opposite me.

"Us being locked in a small, manky cell for over a week with god knows what to expect reminds you of anything?" Sasha replied sarcastically.

Sucking on the inside of my bruised cheek, I smiled weakly. "It reminds me of Merle- of Woodbury."

"Oh, yeah..." Sasha murmured, "Seems like such a long time ago now."

"I remember when he took us- locked us up. All I could think about was if Maggie was okay- or imagine how they might have hurt her already. I didn't care about what they did to me, as long as I survived to know that she did too." I looked across to Sasha, finding the small ray of light from the window catching the wetness of her eyes. "Abraham wanted the same- so did Ty. They wanted you to survive this."

"And I have."

"But you didn't want to, did you?"

"I didn't have a choice," She stifled a sad laugh and wiped a tear from her cheek. "If I had been alone, I would've found a way. With you here, it was never an option."

I looked up to the window as four rhythmic shots were fired in the near distance.

"It's happening." I announced, pushing myself up from the ground.

"She said to wait for the explosion—"

"I know- I just need to get myself ready for the run. We might have to fight our way out of- argh- here." I groaned as I clutched my side, the bruises to my rib cage taking a toll on me.

"Hey-" Sasha quickly came to my side and ducked her head to look up at me. "-there is no point in tryna escape if you're only gonna hurt yourself more. Yeah, we wanna get out in time but we have time. We take it easy- no rushin', no hero crap- okay?"

Holding her widened stare, I sighed. "Yeah- yeah, okay."

"You kept me goin' through all this- both you an Maggie after that night, an then with you here. Now let me keep you goin'." She tugged lightly on my shoulder.

After a few minutes, the explosion pounded against the exterior walls and triggered a ray of dust to fall from the ceiling. Heavy footsteps ran through the corridor, only adding to the fear I felt of Bella getting caught. I blinked rapidly as the beads of sweat rolled down from my brow, making my eyes sting. My limbs and muscles were in agony, desperate to rest, but we had to be ready. Using every ounce of strength left in me, I kept myself standing, fists clenched and ready for whatever we would have to face on the other side of the door.

Three gun shots were fired beyond the door, as my eyes widened slightly and the imaginary scenarios were like night terrors coming to life in my mind. Then gunfire began blasted my ear drums from outside, but within seconds of that the grating of rusted metal sounded and the door flew open.
