Chapter 399
Later that day, as the evening set in and the Birmingham show was approaching at a rapid rate, Cheryl had gone off for her chill out time that she always needed before taking to the stage, while the dancers had all communed in the vast changing room they’d been provided with to get dressed into the white outfits they wore for the first performance, all incredibly hyper too it seemed as Lily walked past the door and heard loud music playing inside and lots of whooping with boisterous chatter and laughter. “Haha…they’re all on top form tonight, it sounds like they’re having a party already!” Lily chuckled as she wandered into another room that was much quieter, with Joan, Beth, Fatima and Gary lounging around having a drink and tucking into a selection of tasty sandwiches the arena team had provided for them.
“They seemed to be doing the full ‘Gangnam Style’ routine before!...haha…the ground was shaking from them all dancing at the same time the plonkers” Joan smirked in reply as Lily sat herself down next to Gary and grabbed one of the fruity cocktails that was waiting for her on the coffee table in front on a silver tray, giggling at the thought of them all doing the crazy dance and being all excited.
“I’d love to have that much energy all of the time…Cheryl’s the same…especially whenever we’re in LA…she’s sometimes back from like 2 hour runs before us two are even up isn’t she Gaz?...haha…and then she has crazy days where she’ll be in rehearsals from like 9 in the morning up until 6 at night, and then she’ll either go to the gym afterwards or for one of her dance cardio classes!...it’s mental!” Lily shook her head in disbelief as she remembered back to some of the times when Cheryl literally wouldn’t stop for a second all day, always seeming to be spurred on by the nice, sunny weather out in California too that made it more enjoyable for her.
“Wey ya na Lils, not everyone is just naturally perfect like us…I don’t have to do a single thing to achieve this God like sight you see before you” Gary jokingly chipped in as he sighed and patted his tummy, before taking a huge bite out of the sandwich he was scoffing down that just made the rest of them all laugh.
“Hahaha…yeah, you’re right Gaz…we don’t even need to try do we?...bless their little cotton socks” Lily playfully replied as she giggled, sipping from her fruity drink whilst she pinched Gary’s iPad from off his lap to play on one of the games he had that the two of them had become obsessed with and played constantly whenever they were waiting around during sound checks or whilst travelling on the bus.
“You’ve got to admit though, it must be nice to actually enjoy working out so much and keeping fit mustn’t it?...I’d have loved to have once had a body like that lot when I was younger, with all the stomach muscles and stuff…have you seen those bloody lines Cheryl’s got going down from her hips?!...” Joan quirkily announced with wide eyes that the women all found extremely amusing, as she genuinely looked quite astonished by some of the muscles she’d noticed on Cheryl and the other female dancers’ sculptured bodies, making Gary just curl his lip up in response to hearing his mother talking about wanting a body like that.
“Haha…do you mean her v-lines?...haha…they’re her pride and joy at the minute…haha…it’s not too late though Joan, get yourself down on the floor doing hundred sit ups every morning and every night and you’ll be sorted…haha” Lily smirked over at Cheryl’s mother who was just shaking her head and pouting her lips, just like her daughter always did.
“Haha…na…I’ve got nobody to show them off to anyway have I? It’s only me who would know I had them!...haha…now if I had a gorgeous fella like Tre on the other hand, then it would be a different story…haha…I’d be doing sit ups all day long…haha” Joan sniggered as Beth just rested her head down onto Joan’s shoulder and chuckled away; them all who were spending the tour in the hotels rather than on the tour bus often having had many conversations on an evening after the show when they’d go to the hotel bars about the amazingly attractive men on the tour, often being quite inappropriate and would have many outbursts of hysterical laughter as a result.
“Alreet mam…not when I’m trying to have me sarnie man…it would be me having to pull ya back up from the floor as well after ya do ya back in trying to work out…haha” Gary cheekily responded and received an elbow in the ribs from Lily who always thought that if she managed to look like Joan when she was her age, then she’d be an extremely happy woman.
“Don’t listen to this clown Joan…you’re a babe” Lily sweetly told her before turning her head to give Gary a scowl.
“Thank you Lily…I think I could be in worse shape after having five kids like…ya gotta work with what ya got haven’t ya?” Joan did a funny little shoulder shuffle as the rest all smiled at her and nodded their heads.
“I don’t even get how five kids have come out of you!...haha…you’re even tinier than Chez, and that’s saying something…hahaha…you got some damn good genes going on in your family…haha” Fatima joined in with her strong American accent; Cheryl and her mother always seeming extra small to her as Fatima herself was incredibly tall and supermodel like.
“Thanks Fatz” Gary winked across at her as she began chuckling away at the smug, slightly cheeky look on his face while Joan sat shaking her head in despair at him.
“Haha…yeah, you’re included in that Gary…haha…you’ve all got the same sense of humour too it seems…haha” Fatima grinned widely across at him whilst Lily was just pulling a face, pretending like she didn’t think Gary was funny at all, which was a complete lie of course as she often was left with incredibly aching ribs from his funny little outbursts and clumsy scenarios he managed to get himself into that were a great source of entertainment for her.
“There’s definitely no boring days working with the Tweedy clan, that’s for sure!” Beth smirked, having worked with Cheryl and been involved with her family for nearly 10 years now, and so they were all good friends and knew each other extremely well.
“Aye…chaotic, but definitely not boring…haha…especially with that daughter of mine and her little magnet for attracting trouble!...I’m gonna go and find her actually to make sure she hasn’t gone off into one of her little daydreams she goes into when she’s got her music on…haha…they need to be on stage in 20 minutes don’t they?” Joan quirkily breathed out whilst standing up and drinking the last bit of her cocktail that had gone down very nicely, having spotted the clock on the wall creeping towards show time.
