Chapter 224
The whole car journey back to the Villa had pretty much been in silence as Cheryl had closed her eyes while she leaned against Tre who had his arm wrapped around her, kissing her forehead every now and then and comfortingly stroked her waist with his thumb, while Lily and Gary just felt it was better not to say anything, knowing they’d really made Tre feel so bad by not getting in contact with him, even though they hadn’t done it on purpose at all and they really had just been in a panic themselves as soon as they’d heard the news. When they at last pulled up outside of the villa, it was nearly 7am and the birds were chirping loudly, breaking the awkward silence as they thanked Mario for coming to get them before Tre carefully helped Cheryl out of the car and walked up to the front door with her, keeping his arm around her waist as he could see from her eyes how tired she was and she was also shaking slightly from the shock.
“Let’s find you some comfy pyjamas yeah and get you tucked up in bed...” Tre spoke softly to her once Gary had unlocked the door to let them in, standing back so that Tre and Cheryl could wander through and continued all the way up the corridor to where the bedrooms were, leaving Lily and Gary feeling worse than ever that Tre really wasn’t talking to them whatsoever.
“Tinkerbell ones?...haha...these look nice and warm” Tre smiled as he looked through Cheryl’s chest of drawers, finding some pale pink PJ’s which had tiny Tinkerbells all over them while Cheryl went to sit down on the edge of her bed. He looked back to her as she nodded and quickly closed the drawers before sitting beside her on the bed, stroking a lock of her hair away from her face. “Let’s get you changed into these hey?...” he breathed out, realising she’d gone much more quieter than when he’d found her in the hospital where she’d immediately began trying to make him feel better as he was in such a panic, but he could see now that she was really in shock and had just been putting on a front for him.
“Thank you...” she quietly replied as he helped her take her shoes off and undo the button on her jeans, it being quite difficult for her as she only had one arm.
“I think you just need to try and have a little sleep before you have a bath or a shower or something yeah?...maybe try to sleep until lunch time and then have something to eat and then have a wash...I know you said you feel grubby, but your eyes look so tired babe, I think we should just get you into bed first...” Tre calmly explained to her, speaking in a soft, soothing voice to try and comfort her as she was barely saying anything, while he helped her change into her pyjama bottoms. “Right, let’s try and take this vest off without moving your arm too much...just pull this one out first...” he took a hold of one of the straps so that she could pull her good arm out from it before Tre slowly lifted it over her head and then delicately slid it off her arm in the sling, feeling his stomach tighten slightly as he realised how much blood had been on it. “There we go!...ok, do you want this left on or took off?” he smiled to her as he nodded towards the black bra she was wearing, trying his best to hide how freaked out he still was about the whole crazy last few hours.
“Erm...off please...it’s comfier” she replied, so grateful that he was there helping her and being so sweet and lovely. She could tell by the tone of his voice and the way he kept smiling at her that he was trying his best to keep everything calm, even though she knew he must still be feeling a bit shocked himself as it had only been just over an hour ago that he’d burst into the hospital, looking totally terrified.
“Right, there we go...” he continued in his soothing tone as he removed her bra and then grabbed the matching Pyjama top which had buttons down the front which made it easier for him to put on her, not bothering to try and get her injured arm through the sleeve, but just buttoned it over the top. “Now you might not be modelling the ‘Victoria’s Secret’ look today, but you’re definitely rocking the floppy arm look!” he joked as he lifted the empty sleeve up and playfully shook it around as she giggled softly. “Haha...feel nicer now beautiful?” he wrapped his arm around her back again, sitting right beside her as he gazed into her dark brown eyes, trying to be comforting to her the best he could.
