Chapter 190

The next morning, Shirley was cheerfully humming away in the kitchen as she filled the kettle up and put a large joint of pork in the oven which she would be taking over to her sister’s house later for the party. Jake was literally salivating as he watched her, desperate for a piece and so Shirley threw him a dog treat to keep him happy for a while, shaking her head as she watched him trot off with it, just as her eldest son Rich made his way into the kitchen, still in a pair of jogging bottoms and a creased looking navy blue t-shirt he had wore in bed. “Morning mom!” he yawned as he sleepily walked over to the cupboard to grab a mug, scratching his head which was coated in some tight cornrows which he had to have to keep his hair out of the way when he was performing in ‘The Lion King’ show.

“Happy 4th of July!...I’ve just put the kettle on hun so just sit down, I’ll make you a coffee” she sweetly replied, loving having a full house again and playing the hostess.

“You’re a little star mom!...haha...did they get here last then? I didn’t hear anything!” Rich asked, having been too tired after his night time show to stay up for his brother.

“Yeah, they got here fine...it was around 3 ‘o’ clock mind, I hope they actually wake up this morning!...haha” she chuckled away as she began making them both a coffee, grinning even more as she suddenly heard the front door and the sound of her daughter and her own mother wandering in, chatting away about something.

“Oh, how did I know them two wouldn’t be up yet!...hahaha” Denise instantly burst out as soon as she came into the kitchen, her infectious laugh making her grandson and Shirley start chuckling too. “They are here aren’t they?”

“Haha...yes mom, they’re still in bed though so keep your cackle down!...haha...I was just saying to Rich, they didn’t get here until about 3am and then we had a chat and a hot chocolate, so they’ll probably be tired!” Shirley explained as she grabbed another couple of mugs from the cupboard.

“I’m surprised they’re still standing!....they just got back from Las Vegas didn’t they?” Rich smirked, looking slightly stunned.

“Haha...yeah!...the night before! They were their usual crazy selves when they got here though so they must still have some energy left!...haha” his mom laughed as she brought the coffee’s over to the table.

“You’re the only one who hasn’t met Cheryl yet, aren’t you love?!” Denise turned to her granddaughter who was wishing people happy 4th of July on her phone.

“Yeah cos I couldn’t make it for your birthday Gran could I?!...haha...I can’t believe Tre is actually going out with a proper popstar! She’s massive as well, I googled her!...haha...some of my friends back at uni had even heard of her, they didn’t believe me when I said she was my brothers girlfriend!” Tre’s little sister Shandell smiled, quite looking forward to meeting her, especially as Denise had being telling her all about her while she’d been staying over.

“She’s very down to earth though, isn’t she Shirl?... so lovely and sweet, you’d never know she is as famous as she is...well apart from the fact she’s drop dead gorgeous and seems to have a never ending supply of clothes in her suitcase!...haha!” her grandma replied, gushing over Cheryl, yet again.

“Haha...I was saying to her last night mom that you’re her biggest fan with all those pictures you’ve printed out!...haha...she said if you’re lucky she might sign one for you!...hahaha” Shirley sniggered as they all began chuckling, Denise burying her face into her hands as she shook her head.

Meanwhile, upstairs in Tre’s room, the couple had still been sleeping peacefully, catching up on the lost hours from flying around so much recently. The noise from downstairs had gradually began to wake Tre up, but the warm, comfy feeling of Cheryl’s body lying in the curve of his own while he still had his arms around her, cuddling her like a teddy bear, meant he was very reluctant to open his eyes. Even though she’d been here before, the feeling of having her in his own bed where he’d grown up, snuggling her softly in his arms meant the world to him. When he’d last been here without her, despite being at home, it had literally taken him forever to get to sleep and when he eventually had done, he had only managed to have a couple of hours; whereas this time he had more or less fallen asleep within minutes of resting his head on the pillow, content and relaxed knowing he had her safely with him.
