Chapter 308
Tre had been continuously bursting out into fits of laughter while the couple had been getting ready and had made their way to the villa, catching Cheryl moodily pouting or grumbling away to herself about how disastrous this whole idea was and how it would be a miracle for nobody to get hurt by the end of the day. She just kept giving him a deathly stare in return or would slap his chest as they walked hand in hand along the beach towards her place; Tre having thought that taking the scenic route might have chilled her out more, but it was actually firing her up even further as she kept watching the surfers that were already out catching the morning waves, not quite believing she was expected to be doing what they were currently doing, in only a couple of hours time probably. Tre tried his best to reassure her and keep a straight face as he was doing so, but she was taking no notice of him, telling him the only thing that sounded somewhat exciting about today, was the prospect of a barbecue and a bit of sunbathing...eating and lying down being much more like Cheryl’s idea of a good time.
When the couple had finally climbed the wooden steps up to the villa from the beach and met up with Lily and Gary who were having breakfast on the balcony, Cheryl’s brother immediately began trying to wind her up more as soon as he realised she now knew about it all, finding it hilarious. “So yeah...I was chatting to me deep sea fishing mates yesterday on the phone cos they’ve been fishing around the place we’re going to this week, and yeah...15 foot Great White was seen there only 2 days ago...looked like a female one too apparently, they’re meant to be the most unpredictable ones...like the ones who come near shore and make the most attacks...guess we just need to keep our fingers crossed I suppose” he told them all around the table, keeping a straight face as he did so while Cheryl frowned, not amused in the slightest, while the other two desperately tried not to laugh, knowing he was only joking.
“Yanno, this is all *Ducking* hilarious until one of us loses our bloody lives out there later...you’re joking about it, but shark attacks happen all the time and there’s nothing to stop it from happening today...so I hope you still find it very funny later when the sea turns red and either you or one of us ends up dying or losing one of our legs or something Gary!” Cheryl replied very seriously, not being able to understand why they found it so funny and didn’t seem to worry about what could potentially happen.
“Hahaha...chez, he’s messing with you babe!...the beach we’re going to is like a safe spot or something...there’s never been a shark seen there and there’s no strong currents or anything, so we’ll be totally fine...plus the proper surf instructors and lifeguards are all there and everything, so it will be perfectly safe” Lily smiled, looking forward to it and wanted Cheryl to enjoy it too as it would be such a laugh if she actually gave everything a go.
“Is it like a cove or something like?...It’s beaches like this one here that are dead long and big that make me feel unsafe...I just can’t relax in the sea when it’s like this with all the huge waves and stuff...but if it’s in like a cove and a bit calmer, I might be alright...this is so *Ducking* stressful...and I’m hungover! I’ll probably vomit in the water or something and get covered in my own puke!” Cheryl screwed her face up, still feeling her head pounding which the others could also sympathise with, as they were all feeling slightly fragile this morning too.
“Haha...yeah, I’m thinking I’ll leave the jet skis until after lunch like meself!...haha...I think it is a bit like a cove though chez...I mean none of us have ever been, so we don’t know...but from how Marshall was explaining it to us last night, it sounds like a nice little beach...and I mean if you can go snorkelling in parts of it, it must be a bit calm mustn’t it?” Gary chuckled as he was currently having to eat his breakfast pretty slowly as his own stomach was feeling quite delicate, but had decided it was probably best to stop winding his sister up so much about the day, as he knew she genuinely had a bit of a phobia about these sorts of things.
