Chapter 318

The next morning, Cheryl was woken up in probably the best way possible as the puppy had began playfully licking her face with his tiny little tongue, clearly having got bored after waking up before she and Derek had. He’d stumbled across from where he’d been snuggled into Derek’s onesie all night, and instead was now standing on Cheryl’s chest, looking down at her with his cute little face that made her dimples glow as soon as she opened her eyes to be faced with his twinkling brown eyes sparkling back at her, before he suddenly attacked her face with licks again. “Hahaha...good morning ya little tinker!...hahaha...you bored baby?” Cheryl quietly whispered as she brought her arms out from under the cosy fur blanket, being careful not to wake Derek up as his steady breathing told her he still must be asleep even though she couldn’t really see him as he had his hood up which was covering his eyes slightly, plus the room was still quite dark as the blinds were down, hiding the giant window. She shuffled away from him slightly and propped herself up against the mountain of pillows and cushions they’d piled up behind them, picking up the puppy to cuddle in closer to her, smiling away as she did so as he really was the most adorable looking thing she’d ever seen. “I wish I could be as awake as you when I first wake up Romie!...hahaha...Mmmm you’re all warm and lovely” she groaned in a whisper as she lay the puppy in her arms like a baby and began lightly tickling his podgy tummy while he playfully tried to chew on her hands, clearly very lively after having been to sleep for a few hours. His little black legs with their tan paws were wriggling around all over the place, and his floppy ears were bobbing around as his head turned this way and that from being tickled, loving to have so much attention and seemed to be becoming more confident already in his new home, as yesterday he’d still seemed quite nervous. “Haha...come on ya nutter, let’s go for a wander outside before you wake your daddy up...haha...hey shush!” she giggled as he was getting even more playful, and suddenly gave out a high pitched bark which made her hush him as he was definitely going to wake Derek up if he carried on behaving so boisterously.

Cheryl shuffled her way out of the comfy sofa bed with Romie still in her arms, and quickly grabbed her phone and the keys before sneakily grabbing a chocolate brownie too to take out with her to the garden, having to hold it away from her as the puppy was desperately trying to have a bite of it too. “Gerroff ya little greedy guts!...haha...it’s mine!” she giggled as she went to have a nibble of it while she was walking down the stairs, the puppy instantly trying to push his head up so that he could have some too which was making her laugh and shake her head, having forgotten how naughty puppies could be as it had been a while since her own had been this young. “Oh you’ve definitely settled in now haven’t you?...haha...and I thought you were going to be a shy little boy...how wrong was I hey?” she smirked as he really wasn’t giving up and she was having to hold on tightly to him so that he wouldn’t fall out of her arms, being relieved when she finally reached the front door and could put him down. “Right, you’re on a strict housetraining regime little man...so off you go, go for a wander, do what cha gotta do” she told him as she opened the door to let him out, giggling to herself as she watched him clumsily jump down from the little step and accidently topple over, making a little whimpering noise as he did so before he tottered off to explore the great outdoors.

The sky was already bright blue and the sun was shining brightly, making the air the perfect temperature as a cool breeze from the ocean was also blowing in, stopping it from getting too hot. While she ate the rest of her delicious chocolate brownie, Cheryl began strolling around the large garden herself, still only wearing the pale green onesie that Derek had loaned to her, and she didn’t even have any socks or shoes on, which was actually quite nice as she walked across the lush green grass which was incredibly soft and cool under her bare feet. It was lovely and quiet apart from the distant sound of the waves on the beach behind the complex, and the birds were all chirping away happily to each other with it being such a nice day, making the atmosphere extremely tranquil which was just how Cheryl liked it, loving to just relax and forget about the rest of the world; one of the reasons this had been such a safe haven for her at one point. Romie was thoroughly entertaining himself as Cheryl watched and realised he seemed to be playing his own little imaginary game, sticking his head into bushes and flower beds before giving a joyful little bark and jumping backwards before darting off at top speed in the opposite direction and doing exactly the same again somewhere else. She could quite happily spend hours just watching a puppy playing, loving how happy and carefree they always were and they never failed to bring a beaming smile to her face.
