[TW: SLIGHT MENTIONS OF ABUSE]
You still remembered the first day you and Toya met. It was a humid summer evening that you had spent playing with the other neighborhood kids. You missed feeling how happy you were back then, not having to worry or care for much, not having to stress over your family or school, those were truly the easier times.
The sun had gone down, and that was when your parents wanted you home, so you were on your way, skipping and singing to yourself as you went. But then, you saw a boy, about three years older than you, sitting on the curb and crying.
His arms were all bandaged up, and bruises littered his body. You couldn't help but frown at the way he was treated. "Are you okay?"
"Leave me alone." He answered between sniffles. You stepped away from him, giving him his space. It seemed that he didn't want help, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
"Okay, I'm going to leave you alone. But, there's a projector in the backyard and you can come watch a movie and play if you want to. Bye!" You told him, walking inside your home.
Then, everything was a blur, and the next thing you know, you're both talking and watching a movie in the backyard, your parents keeping an eye on the two of you. Your father was still around back then, too, and your mother wasn't a drunken shell of a woman.
The next thing you knew, you two were inside, in your basement, sleeping on the futon with a ton of blankets. But hearing your parents talking upstairs woke you up.
They were talking about the bruises and bandages on Toya's body, and what they could do about it. How they could protect and help him. His father was an incredibly powerful man, if they spoke out about it, they could lose their jobs, their homes, everything, and all of that scared you.
After hearing about what Toya was going through, you went back downstairs, joining him under the blanket and cuddling up next to him. You wanted to take away that pain. You wanted to be there for him.
But how could you, when you weren't there for him when he needed you the most?
"(Y/n)...please....help...me."You woke up in a cold sweat, panting slightly. It was early in the morning, but not early enough for you to be able to stay up. It was all just a bad dream. Everything was fine. Dabi was fine. Right?
With a sigh, you grabbed your phone, looking at your texts. You knew you were angry with him after what had happened, but you didn't like the way you left things. So you texted him a few times but he didn't reply. He didn't even look at them. Didn't even give you an apology or anything.
You groaned in frustration, sending him another text before pulling the covers over you and falling back asleep.
Y/N: Look I know we're both mad
at each other and this is sorta
awkward but at least let me know
ur ok--
You sighed, looking down at your phone as you made your way through the school halls. Dabi still hadn't texted you back, and you were getting really worried.
Suddenly, you bumped into someone's chest, falling backward but thankfully getting caught. It was Mirio who you collided with, standing there with Tamaki. "Oh, there you are, sunshine! We've been looking for you everywhere."
"What's up?" You asked while shooting Dabi another text.
"Oh nothing, there's just something we wanted to tell you." Mirio began, and you were too busy staring at your phone and searching for a reply to even hear what he was saying. "(Y/n), everything okay? You seem kind of distracted."
