You groaned to yourself, looking at the most recent results of your test. This was the fourth assessment you flunked this month. What made it worse was the fact that midterms were quickly approaching, only giving you a couple of weeks to study. You never had the time though, thanks to the jumbled mess you called a schedule.
It didn't help that you were barely sleeping. And when you did have time to sleep, you couldn't do it. You had been feeling a little paranoid recently, and whenever that happened, you always struggled with things like sleep.
"What's wrong, (y/n)?" Mirio questioned, watching you put your head down on your desk.
"I'm just stressed. I'm failing almost all of my classes and now I failed this stupid test."
"I'm sure it's not that bad." He said, pulling the paper out from under you. You heard a small wince and an "ooh."
"Well a forty-five isn't horrib-" You felt yourself tear up just by hearing the number. Weren't you supposed to be smart? How the hell did you get a forty-five? Couldn't you be good at anything?
"I-it's okay, (y/n). You can just retake it, right?" Tamaki asked, rubbing your back and attempting to comfort you.
"Yeah, but this is the fourth test I'm going to retake this month. I don't know what to do." You mumbled, moving the hood of your sweatshirt over your face.
"W-well, um, Mirio and I could help you study!" Tamaki offered, looking over at Mirio for a sign of approval. Mirio gave him a small nod and a smile, showing that it was given.
You picked your head up from your desk, wiping away tears that were pricking the corners of your eyes. Being varsity athletes, they always had to get good grades. Never once had you seen anything below a seventy from either of them. "You guys would do that? For me?"
"Of course, (y/n). You're our best friend. We'd do anything for you." Mirio added, wrapping his bigger hand around your exposed fingers that were covered up by your oversized hoodie sleeve.
"But what about your sports and stuff? And my job? And Eri?"
"W-why don't we try it out for once a week? You come over to Mirio's today after work, hire a babysitter, and then just get back home late?" Tamaki suggested.
"That's a really good idea, Tamaki. Alright, why not? Let's do this." You hugged both boys, grinning. "Thanks, guys, you're the best!"

After school, you picked Eri up and rushed back home to drop her off and get changed into your uniform, like you usually did.
Before leaving, you stopped by your mother's bedroom, standing at the door frame. It seemed like she was busy, getting ready for her own job, pulling up her stockings, and grabbing her heels. She worked as a waitress at some diner nearby, one that you never really caught the name of.
You were never close with your mother, even when your father was around. And after he left, things got even worse. There were tons of arguments and fights between you and her, ones that eventually lead you to rebel. But your actions had harsh consequences, which was a part of the reason why you were forced to move here.
"I'm going to be working late, and going over to a friend's place to study. I probably won't be home until early in the morning. So I hired a babysitter, and they should be here any second now." You told her.
"Are there going to be boys there?"
"No." You would feel bad about lying to her, but you knew if you told the truth, she wouldn't let you go and would probably call you a hussy or something.
