KAILEE POV

I walked into my class room and started to prepare for first period. Just like that, my mind drifted to River. That girl was something else, it had been a few days since that day at my house and I couldn't stop thinking about her. About how soft her lips were or her reaction after. It was both cute and flattering how flustered she got by one kiss.

A noise outside grabbed my attention and I got up. Looking down the hall, I saw Cameron against a locker. The same boy from last time in front of her. Wesley was a trouble maker and I noticed he had an infatuation with Cam. I walked briskly to them in time to hear her say, 'leave me alone' in a strong voice.

"Wesley, I don't believe she stuttered." I folded my arms as I glared hard at him.

He stepped back with a smug grin. "I was just saying 'hi' Miss Anderson. See ya around, Cameron." He walked off.

I looked at the smaller girl after he disappeared around the corner. She smiled nervously up at me.

"Thank you, Miss Anderson." She said in a sweet voice and I almost cooed at her shyness.

I saw why her sister and brother were so protective of her. "Does he do that often?"

Her smile fell and she reluctantly nodded. "Yes, but please don't tell River."

I squinted my eyes at her. "Why not?"

She let out a chuckle. "Because she'll kill him." She simply said.

I would've disagreed and say she was too nice to do that. But I saw the way she reacted when Cameron fell to the ground some time back. She probably would kill the boy if she knew he was bothering her sister.

"Promise you'll tell me if he bothers you again?" I don't know what it was but I had the sudden urge to protect her.

"I promise." She quickly agreed.

My day continued on and at lunch, there was an announcement that we would have some visitors. My dad and some officers were coming to talk to the school. It really was sad what was happening around here lately. I also hoped River would be one of those officers tagging along.

I stood watching as my dad had this weird expression on and his body rigid. Officer Benson was to his left and I saw my dad take subtle steps away. Then my eyes fell to the green eyed girl that had my heart feeling unfamiliar things. River had her hand over her mouth trying not to laugh and I just knew, this girl did something.

The principal invited my father on stage to address the students and teachers. He had everyone's attention as he spoke. I was leaning against the wall as I listened when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned to see River peeking her head out behind the wall, a cute smile on her face.

"Hi." She spoke quietly. "I missed you, you look amazing by the way. Did you miss me?"

I giggled at her rambling. "Maybe I did, I'll never tell." I teased and she pouted. "What did you do to my dad?" I asked after.

"Huh, me? Nothing." She feigned confusion. I raised a brow and waited. She stared blankly back at me before she caved. "Okay, fine but please don't tell him."

"What did you do?" I asked very curious now.

She giggled cutely before telling me. "I may have texted him from Benson's phone and told him he had herpes. And that he needed recommendations on meds." The dirty blonde informed.

"River!" I whisper yelled. "Why do you mess with Benson like that?"

"He called me stupid." She grumbled.

"And my father?"

"I just like messing with him, it's funny." She giggled again.

I shook my head with a frown. Her face turned serious as she stood straight.

"Wait, are you mad at me? Are you going to stop seeing me?" She asked quickly.

My eyes looked right into hers. I saw panic written across her face and I melted. In some ways she was so innocent yet did things like this.

"No, to both of those questions, Riv." I watched as a smile appeared. "But stop messing with my dad." I glared at her.

She nodded vigorously. "I will try."

"River."

"Fine, no more messing with your dad." She muttered.

I saw her eyes flicker to my lips and mine did the same. I so desperately wanted to kiss her but I couldn't, not here.

"Meet me at my house later?" I asked hopefully.

"Okay." She smiled big and left to go stand in her place.

River and I sat on my couch watching a movie I wasn't paying attention to. She sat at a respectable distance that I wanted to close. It was something I noticed about her, she always seemed hesitant in initiating anything. Whether it was to hold my hand or an innocent kiss.

"Oh, I forgot. I have something to tell you but don't overreact." I turned to her.

She gave me her full attention after pausing the movie. "Okay."

I proceeded to tell her what happened earlier today. I know Cameron didn't want me to say anything but I couldn't keep it to myself. Not when I knew how River felt about her sister. I watched as anger overtook her usually soft features. She gritted her teeth and I took her hand in mine instantly.

"Hey, don't go off. I told her to come to me if she has a problem. I'll look out for her, promise." Her face softened but I still saw anger behind those green eyes that I was falling for.

She slowly nodded but I could see the reluctance still there. "Thank you, for watching out for her."

"Of course." I gave her a smile.

We sat gazing at each other like two love struck teenagers. My eyes drifted to her pink lips before I looked back to her eyes. They were a slightly deeper shade of green.

"Kailee?" She whispered.

"Yeah?" I whispered back.

"Can I kiss you?"

"Please."

River wasted no time in taking my lips with hers. She kissed me slowly, there was no rush or desperation. She wasn't taking it further so I did so myself. Licking her bottom lip and easing my way in, when her mouth parted for me. She moaned when our tongues met and I reveled at the sweet sound.

Before I knew it, I leaned back and pulled her over me. I deepened the kiss as she held herself up on her elbows. I didn't know how long we were making out for, but I felt something poking me. River was off of me in a beat before I could register what it was. I slowly sat up breathlessly to see her sitting with a throw pillow over her lap. Her breathing was as heavy as mine, her face flushed. I bit my lip when I realised she was now hard.

"River,"

"It's not me! I swear the thing has a mind of its own." She hurried out, eyes locked on the floor.

I smiled as I regarded her. Normally I'd be uncomfortable with this but it was different with her. She's different. I didn't fear anything when it came to her, because I somehow knew I didn't have to. I felt things I never did in any previous relationship and I was sure, I was falling for this girl.

"Hey, it's okay." I spoke softly. "Do you um, how does this work?"

"It'll go away, gimme a minute." She mumbled with her eyes shut.

"Want me to leave you alone or?" I kept my voice soft.

"Please just, be quiet." Her voice was strained now. "Even your voice does things to me." She grumbled.

Suppressing my laugh and ignoring the flutter in my stomach, I leaned back and pressed play on our movie.
