LOGAN POV (River's Ma)
"What are you doing to find her?" I asked Bruce.
"I have everyone on this, Logan. Let me do my job."
I clenched my jaw to control my anger. "Someone has her and you're just fucking sitting there."
He got up and glared at me but then his face softened. "I know it's hard. This is your child but I promise you, I'll do everything I can. Look, you have pulls with some dangerous people but you can't go there. I can tell you want to but please let me do me job to find her."
"Do you know who it is?"
"Benson is still in custody so either he has a partner or this is something else."
I nodded and walked out behind him when he got up.
"Lennon, where's Wyatt?" Bruce asked one of his officers.
"He didn't show up, I called him in but no answer." He informed.
"I'm allowing you in, Matthews but behave." He said as we reached the room they kept Benson in.
I didn't answer and followed him in. Benson was sitting on the floor, his eyes on us.
"Finally realised it wasn't me?" He asked smugly.
"Where is she?" Bruce asked.
"Am I supposed to know who you're talking about?"
I leaned against the wall, trying to keep calm. "My daughter. Where is she?"
He laughed. "Matthews? How the fuck would I know? I've been in here."
Bruce walked up to him and crouched down. "Someone took her. Is it your partner?"
Benson tsked and put his head against the wall. "I don't know shit and even if I did, I wouldn't say." He turned to me. "I hope she dies."
I stood upright and walked in his direction. Bruce stood up blocking me. Paying him no mind, I crouched down. I stared right into his eyes and spoke. "If anything happens to my daughter, I'll kill you. I promise if you have anything to do with this, no one can stop me from coming after you."
I left the room with Bruce on my heels, an officer coming up to us.
"We got a call, Wyatt he wants to talk to you." The officer rushed off.
Bruce and I went to the phone. He gave a look before answering. "Wyatt, why aren't you here?"
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean to hurt her. But she was in my way." He was crying.
My face paled and I felt my body stiffen. I couldn't tell whether or not my heart was beating too fast or not at all.
"What are you talking about, Wyatt?" Bruce asked, I could tell he was panicking too.
"River, I-I have her and I have to kill her now." He hung up.
RIVER POV
The cloth over my head blinded me. I rolled my neck feeling the pain from where the idiot injected me, along with the strike to my head. My hands were bound behind my back pretty tightly, my legs to whatever I was sitting on. No way I was getting out of this. I got the tomato sauce and was about to go back when someone attacked me. They caught me off guard but I still tried to fight back. The cloth was pulled off and I blinked rapidly to adjust to the light.
"Good, you're awake." Wyatt's voice came.
"What, what's going on?" I asked, still foggy from whatever he gave me.
"I didn't want to hurt you, I actually like you." He spoke as he paced up and down.
I looked around to see wooden walls, out the windows were nothing but trees. "It was you all this time?"
He laughed and it didn't sound like him. This laugh had something about it. "Yeah, t-they deserved it. All of them."
"Nobody deserves that." I mumbled, not wanting to upset him. Between the knife in his hand, the gun on his waist and the gasoline in the corner, I wasn't sure how far he would go.
"You can't say that! You don't know what they did to me!" He shouted with bewildered eyes and I knew then, this wasn't the Wyatt I knew. "They would throw trash on me, shove my head in the toilet. One time they stripped me and tied me up on the goal post on the soccer field. I stayed there all night long until the soccer coach found me the next morning." He was in tears, his voice quiet and fragile.
"Who did that to you?" I asked quietly.
He wiped his eyes and smiled. That smile sent shivers down my body with how cold it was. "I haven't taken my meds, I always take them but not this week. I needed to be me to do what I had to do." He walked over to the chainsaw I didn't notice before
"What's that for?" I asked, swallowing when I saw it already had blood on it.
"I uh," he laughed nervously. "I may have killed a few people before I came for you. Not using drugs though." He clarified. "I decided they deserved much worse."
I tugged at the ropes but they were tied perfectly. I could barely move, the only way I'd get out was if he let me go. I didn't see that happening.
"Why did you kill them, Jason?" I used his first name.
His eyes looked up from the chainsaw and into mine. "They hurt me so I hurt them." He shrugged.
"And the kids?" I felt like throwing up.
He hummed, shaking his head side to side. "They were bad so I taught them a lesson." He shrugged.
He wasn't in his right mind, I could tell. I'd never seen him this way before, so dead inside.
"Jason, can you loosen the ropes? They're too tight." I carefully requested.
He hummed again. "No, I'm crazy not stupid." He stood in front of me, tapping his chin with three fingers. "Do you know why I took you?" I shook my head. "You didn't believe it was Benson, I framed him so good." He laughed. "I got shoe lifts and a fake tattoo. Jane was easy, I had her helping after one fuck and now I have her body parts in the other room." He clapped his hands, laughing. "That was smart, huh? But you still didn't believe, I saw it in your eyes when you left the station that day. I knew you'd figure it out and now I have to kill you." The dead look was back now.
I tried to stay calm, I couldn't die. I had to go back to Kailee, she was waiting for me. "Okay, let's not-"
My own scream cut me off after he stabbed the knife in my legs.
"Fuckity fuck face!"
"Don't tell me what to do. Now, take your pick. Getting stabbed to death, a few bullets in you. Do you want me to chop you up? Because I can do that or burn you alive?" He asked so fucking casually, as if he was taking my dinner order.
"How about none of the above?" I groaned.
The fucker punched me in the face so hard, I'm pretty sure I lost a tooth.
"You know what?" I spat blood out. "I don't want to be friends anymore. I wanna go home."
"Choose." He said again.
I shook my head negatively. "I don't like this game, I don't want to play."
Kailee was probably so worried. I missed her and I wanted a hug.
"Chainsaw it is then." He walked to it and picked it up. "I'll call and tell them where we are after I'm done."
There was no talking to him out of it. He was deranged and set on killing me. I put on the bravest face I could muster up and watched him come closer.
I thought about my parents, my other half, my baby sister. I thought about how loved I was. Brianna, James, fuck even Cap flashed through my mind. How lucky I was to have such a good life. Closing my eyes, I saw her. She was smiling at me, that smile that had me feeling so many things yet nothing at all. I had only one regret at the moment.
I should've told her I love her.
