Few weeks later

RIVER POV

"No, it has to be perfect." I told Ryan, Cam, Bri and my moms.

"That's a good ring." Ryan threw his hands up.

I whipped around in his direction. "Good ring? Kailee Anderson does not deserve 'good'." I mocked his words, placing my hands on my waist. "No, Kailee Anderson deserves, moon and stars wrapped up in doves or something else that makes sense. Violins and pianos play in the background when she smiles. The woman wakes up looking like a goddess, she deserves to be sang to sleep every night and to be woken up by the kiss of the sunlight. You don't get a 'good' ring for a woman like that. Hmph." I fussed and walked off.

I paid no mind to the snickering from the others behind me while I continued to search. "Not you, not you, you're just ugly. Definitely not you."

My healing process wasn't completed. I still had a few nightmares from time to time but I got through them. I listened to Kailee's words that still rang through my mind, I filled my thoughts on the people around me. Their love and support gave me the comfort I needed when I needed it. Kailee was now six months pregnant, and I wanted her to be my wife before the baby got here. But she'd probably have a problem with being 'too pregnant', though I thought she still looked breathtaking. Pregnancy sure did agree with her. She glowed more, her eyes seemed brighter and the mood swings were rather amusing, but I'd never tell her that last bit. The added curves were just a bonus for me too, that ass sure did things to me.

"See anything?" Mom asked coming to stand next to me.

I sighed, frustrated. "No, none of these deserves to be on her finger."

She chuckled, looping her hand through my arm. "Let's got to another jewellery store then."

"She's the one for you." She stated. We walked a few steps ahead of the other four.

"She is." I confirmed.

"I'm proud of you." I looked down at her. "I'd like to think it was thanks to us but," she smirked. "No, that's just who you are. You grew up to be one of the most thoughtful and sweetest human beings ever. Definitely a pain in the ass at times but amazing none the less." She stood on her tip toes but I still had to lean down for her to reach my cheek. She placed a kiss there before dragging me into the next store.

Three stores later, I found one to my liking. A 3 carat rose gold, oval shaped diamond ring. Two smaller diamonds sitting on either side of it and tiny ones trailed along the band. She'd like this one, it suited her. I nodded to myself in approval. After I gained five more approvals, I purchased it and headed to my next destination.

I barged into his office like I owned the damn place. Slumped my ass on the chair and grinned at the scowling man.

"You may be dating my daughter Matthews, but I'll still kick your ass." He tossed his pen down and leaned back.

"Nah, you wouldn't risk angering Kailee. She's pretty protective of me, you know." I smiled smugly.

He sighed, uncharacteristically rolling his eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"What, I can't visit my father-in-law?" I feigned hurt.

He stared blankly at me. "I still don't like you."

I tsked, shaking my head. "Liar liar, pants on fire. You like me, a lot." I grinned.

"I swear, either tell me why you're here or get out." He huffed out.
