RIVER POV
"Hiya, boy." I petted Ace's head. "Cammie!"
"What?!" She yelled back.
"I'm home!"
"Okay!"
"Do you want food?!" The yelling continued.
"No!"
"Okay! James and Ryan are coming over!"
I heard footsteps approaching and Cam appeared from upstairs.
"I'm tired of yelling." She walked down. "And why?"
"Movie night. I invited Kailee and Edward too."
"Alright." She looked to the kitchen. "I'm hungry now."
"You can invite Brianna if you want." I moved to the kitchen.
"No, she's busy with her boyfriend tonight." She replied. "Ugh, I can't believe I have to hang out with a bunch of adults, and well you." She smirked.
"Haha. Keep being mean to me and no food." I pointed my finger at the small girl.
She rolled her eyes and walked out.
I made enough dinner to feed us all and then took a shower. I was so damn tired but I wasn't about to pass up a chance to be with Kailee. We were doing really good so far and I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend. She seemed to like me enough, I know I was falling deep for her. The thing that held me back was moving too fast, we'd been going out for over a month now.
James, Ryan, along with Dana, the girl Ryan has been seeing, showed up. Apparently Edward and Kailee were on their way. I knew they were just friends and both gay, but I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. They were always so touchy. They haven't been lately but still. I shook it off not wanting to be that person, instead I enjoyed myself.
The door bell rang but I stayed put not wanting to seem too eager, which I was. For once they walked in without his arm around her shoulders. I exhaled and beelined to her.
"Hi, you look beautiful." I kissed her softly.
She chuckled and pulled me in for a deep kiss. "Stop kissing me like I'm your friend."
"O-okay." I choked out.
Kailee patted my cheek with a smirk before walking away, completely aware of the effect she had on me.
I stared after her as she talked and laughed with everyone. I noticed she spent most of her time with Cam, she always had a soft look in her eyes whenever they interacted. It reminded me of how Ryan and I were with her. I openly creeped on the olive skinned goddess and I didn't even try to hide it. Everyone was busy eating and talking to pay me any attention anyway.
"Hey River, can we talk?" Edward came and sat next to me.
Without looking away from Kailee I answered. "Sure."
"I just have one thing to say," he started and I turned to him. "Please, don't hurt her." His eyes were pleading and I didn't understand the intensity of it. "Kailee may not show it, but she's been hurt before and that girl doesn't deserve anymore pain."
I looked him dead in the eyes. "I have absolutely no intention of doing that, I just want to make her happy. I'm trying to be what she wants."
He shook his head with a laugh. "You don't have to be anything but you. She likes you just the way you are." He paused. "I also know you have a problem with our closeness."
"I don't." I snapped.
He didn't believe that. "River,"
"What are you guys talking about?" Kailee came and sat on my lap, snaking an arm around my neck. I timidly placed one around her waist to hold her.
"You." Edward stated. "Your girl might need some reassuring." He got up and left.
You bitch.
"Reassurring about what?" She asked me.
"I, uh nothing."
"Riv, what do you need reassurance about?" She lifted my chin to see my face.
"You're both very close." I started. "I just, I don't know." I looked down.
She stayed quiet for a moment. "I was wondering when it would come up." I looked back at her. "Edward and I have both had relationships end because they didn't understand our bond. I mean come on, we're best friends and we're both gay." She sighed. "Look, he's been in my life a long time, I get why it might bother you. I wouldn't like it if you were kissing another girl's cheek or having her hugging on you either. Can you please just trust me? If not, it's better we not push this further only to end it later. I've already done that with my last girlfriend."
I started to panic as she got up. I pulled her back down. "That's not what I want. I believe you, I can be okay with it." I told her.
"River, you can't just say it and then not be."
"I'm not, I promise." I kissed her neck, smiling when she shivered.
She bit her lip and looked down at me. "We always step back when we're in relationships, it's why we haven't been hanging off of each other lately. He's with James and I'm with you, we do respect our partners feelings."
I nodded my head, feeling relieved. I didn't mind her being close to her friend, but I did think they were together at first. The way he held her and would kiss her cheek or forehead, I wanted to be the only one who did that.
"I won't mention it again."
"You are allowed to voice your concerns, Riv." She pecked my lips. "Come on, they're starting the movie."
I sat between Cam and Kailee. Kailee cuddled into my right and my sister, to my left. I had a big stupid smile as we watched Kong: Skull Island. Apparently none of us had seen it before. Halfway though the movie, I heard multiple phones go off, including my own. I reached for it to see a message from my mom along with a pic of her, Ma, uncle Luke and aunt Jazz.
Photo shoot is long over but we're not coming back. You kids took enough of our years. It's vacation time! Don't burn the house down, Cam better be in one piece when we get back and only call if one of you is dying.
P.s. we love you!
I looked around the room to see Ryan, James and Cam's phone in their hands. We each made eye contact before shrugging and going back to the movie. It was fine by me.
"Everything okay?" Kailee whispered close to my ear, a sweet jolt of electricity went through me.
"Y-yeah, moms just letting us know we have to fend for ourselves."
She giggled and laid her head on my chest. "You do realise you're grown right?"
"I like being taken care of." I whispered back.
She lifted her head to look at me. "I see." She bit her lip. "My form of taking care of you might be different, but I think you'd like it better." Her voice lowered to a seductive tone. Just like that my throat had gone dry and my buddy twitched.
Cam cleared her throat loudly. "I'm still right here people." She got up and went to Ryan, who immediately wrapped his arm around her.
"Not in front of the baby." He glared at me. He didn't hear but I guess he assumed.
Kailee laughing softly brought my attention to her. "You just got me in trouble." I grumbled out, still affected.
"Sorry, baby." She gave me a chaste kiss. I was still stuck on being called baby. I didn't say anything but just stared into her amber eyes. "What?"
I shook my head and kissed her deeper than she did me. It lasted a few seconds as I explored her mouth with my tongue.
I think I like being someone's baby.
"Hey!" James shouted, throwing a pillow. "It's movie night, nobody wants to see that."
"Shut up." I threw the pillow back at him and continued to kiss my girl.
