RIVER POV

I walked into the building with a smile in place. While I loved spending my time with Kailee, I hated not having anything constructive to do. Today was my first day back and I was excited.

As I passed my fellow officers, I was greeted and welcomed back by every one but Benson. Old people loved holding grudges I guess. In all seriousness, the guy was only 38 but I liked messing with him. I sat at my desk and to my utter annoyance, Jane came up to me.

"Looking good, Matthews. I missed you around here." She smirked. "Wanna go to the locker room and catch up?"

"How's that fiance of yours doing? Does he know you fuck anything that moves?" I asked with a glare.

"You used to be one of those things." She kept her annoying smirk on.

"Key words, 'used to be'. And it's never happening again." I told her seriously.

"We'll see." She walked away.

This wasn't what I was looking forward to. I shook my head and went to work. I had a stack of paperwork to do.

Several hours later, I was about to leave for home. I was back at my apartment now, much to my disappointment. I loved staying with Kailee. I got hugs and kisses every night before I fell asleep. She always held me, cuddling me close. As I was about to leave, a booming voice stopped me.

"Matthews, my office now!" Captain yelled.

See, I was never afraid of the man. I always messed with him, enough to see that vein in his forehead protruding. But now that I was dating his daughter, that's a whole other story. I timidly walked to his opened door, closing it behind me. For the very first time, I waited for him to talk first.

"Cat got your tongue?" He asked with no expression.

I awkwardly cleared my throat. "Uh, hi?"

"Sit down." He ordered.

I did so quickly. My leg started to bounced when all he did was stare at me. Was he plotting my murder? Probably. No, he was definitely planning on killing me. He was gonna end me, then hide my body. No one was going to find me, my family and friends. Oh gosh, Kailee. She was going to find someone else and get married and have kids. In a short time, she'd forget about me and move on. I'd be forgotten and never to be thought of again. All because my girlfriend's father didn't want me with his daughter.

"Matthews!" He shouted.

"Huh?" I looked up startled.

"Did you hear what I said?" He looked angry.

I slowly shook my head. "What's that?"

He muttered something under his breath and spoke louder to me. "Dinner, Saturday night at my house. 7pm, do not be late." He spoke sternly.

I nodded my head vigorously. "O-okay, sir."

"Get out." He pointed to the door.

I scrambled up to my feet and sprinted to my bike. I let out a breath before getting out of there. I drove to my apartment building, noticing James was there.

I opened our door, hearing sounds coming from the living room. Curiously I walked there, only to let out a scream

A loud one.

"Shit, River I thought you'd be at Kailee's." James scrambled to him feet while Edward zipped up his pants.

I turned around and closed my eyes "I'm going to have to bleach out my fucking eyes!" I screamed. "Why would you do that there. You have a damn room for a reason." I whined. "We are getting rid of that couch." I said while I headed to the door again.

My eyes were still closed, resulting in me knocking down a few things. I didn't give a shit about it though. I made it out and ran to my bike.

I parked in Kailee's driveway and rushed to her door. I frantically knocked on her door until she came to it.

"What the-" she stopped as she saw me.

I didn't wait for an invite and pushed past her. Sitting on her couch, I stared at the floor. Imagines burned into my poor, innocent brain.

"Baby, what's wrong? Why do you look like that?" She came beside me.

"My eyes," I faced her. "They were...doing stuff. I saw them...do stuff." I stuttered out.

"Okay? Who are you talking about?" She asked as she cupped my face.

"Your best friend and my best friend." I told her with wide eyes.

She seemed to be confused before it hit her. When it did, she laughed. Hard. Making me frown.

"Have you never walked in on someone before?" She asked when her laughter died down.

"No. I mean, I interrupted people before but I never saw anything." I replied looking at my hands.

"Riv, stop acting like a damn virgin." She giggled.

"Hey, doing the deed and seeing my best friend deep throat his boyfriend is two completely different thing." I rushed out then shook my head, trying it get rid of it.

Kailee laughed again and straddled me. "Why are you like this?" Her hands were beside my neck.

"How?" I frowned, wrapping my arms around her waist.

She smiled an endearing smile and kissed me sweetly. "You're amazing, Riv."

"I know that." I kissed her neck quickly. "You're dad invited me to dinner on Saturday. I think he wants to fatten me up before putting me in the ground."

She chuckled and made me look at her. "Yeah, mom told me today. And would you stop with that? My dad doesn't hate you."

"Yes, he does. I was a pain in his butt for months. He's gonna get revenge now because he knows I can't retaliate. He's my girlfriend's dad, I have to be nice." I grumbled.

She climbed off of me and walked towards the kitchen. I followed obediently. She opened the fridge and took out a pie.

"You want any of this?" She gestured to the pie. "It's your favorite."

"You're not going to say anything?"

She shook her head. "We'll have dinner and you'll see. Now, how much do you want?"

"A big piece." I licked my lips as I eyed the chocolate cream pie.

She gave me a decent slice and cut a much smaller piece for herself. I wasted no time in devouring my piece and took more.

"I take it you like it then?" She smirked.

I looked over to see her still eating her small piece. "You don't want anymore, do you?" I asked with a hopeful look.

She laughed. "No, I made it for you."

I grinned and took the rest.
