RIVER POV
I sat staring into space as my mind spinned with thoughts. The papers in front of me were already burned into my brain from the amount of times I went through them. Interviews, patrols, everyone doing double the workload. The kids weren't the only ones overdosing now, but they did remain the majority. You would think they'd know better by how many of their peers had died but I guess not. Damn kids.
The same question remained, who the fuck is selling the drugs?
Of course on patrols you'd see the occasional 'thugs' and whatnot. They'd be drinking and smoking, while causing trouble in the area but no drugs. These people blended in the crowd.
Blended in.
People you wouldn't think twice about...
You wouldn't suspect them because they belonged to the targeted group.....
Fuck!
I sprinted to Captain Anderson's office without knocking. He narrowed his eyes at my intrusion but I didn't care. Ignoring Benson and his partner, I addressed him.
"They have someone who goes to the school selling the drugs." I breathed out.
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing, she's a kid herself who doesn't know shit." Benson replied, his partner silently eyed me.
"Zip it, grandpa." I snapped. "Captain, every patrol we've been on, we see people loitering around. We check them and nothing. We see teenagers but nothing suspicious to indicate anything. We talked to the entire school, they stopped for a while then someone overdosed again. There's no activity in the night because it's not happening at night. Think about it, we've been busting our asses off and still stuck. It happens at the school." I stressed.
He looked deep in thought. "You think it's a student."
I nodded even though it wasn't a question. "Either that, or anyone who works there."
"Captain, you can't tell me you're listening to this, this child."
"This child, Benson, is doing your job." He spoke calmly yet sternly. "We can't have a raid just like that." He directed at me.
I shook my head. "No, say we're having another assembly. Get them all in one room without raising suspicion. Officers will check the lockers while you talk to them, keep them busy. They won't think we're suspecting the children, so their guard will be down. No one makes anything known until we find something. Then work from there."
"Today is off, school day is pretty much over. I'll set it up for tomorrow." He said, checking the time. "Good job, Matthews. Hopefully we get somewhere."
***
"Hmm, what was that for?" Kailee whispered after I kissed all the air out her lungs.
I came here as soon as I left work. I was excited we were finally getting somewhere with the case. I wanted to tell her but no one could know exactly what was happening. Not that I didn't trust her, but I won't allow work to come between us. When I strip off the uniform, all I wanted to focus on was her.
"Nothing, I missed you." I mumbled.
"You always say that." She chuckled, moving away.
"I always mean it." I pulled her back.
She stared up at me with twinkling amber eyes. "I missed you too." She pinched my cheeks. "Why are you so adorable." She cooed.
"Stop it." I playfully whined protesting, but in truth I liked it.
She kissed me again, this time at a faster pace. Tongues explored the other's mouth and our bodies held close. Her hands were tangled in my hair, pulling as mine were right above her ass. I wanted to grab them but I didn't want to push too far. She pulled back and led me to the couch. She made me sit, then she straddled me. Kailee took both my hands and placed it on her ass before cupping my face. I took my chance and squeezed the firm yet soft flesh.
Fuck, I loved her ass.
She bit and tugged at my lower lip, making me growl lowly. My lungs begged for air but I was enjoying this too much to stop. Ever so slowly her hips started to grind into me. That did it.
"You're hard again." She panted.
"S-sorry. Can't help it." I breathed out.
I could see her contemplating something as her amber eyes gazed intently into my green ones.
She joined our lips again in a hungry dance. Next thing I know I was being pulled on top of her again. My mouth moved to her neck, sucking on her collarbone. Kailee was moaning softly under me, her hands keeping my head in place. I involuntarily thrusted my hips into her slowly. I didn't mean to, I knew this wasn't leading to sex.
"Ow." I somehow ended up on the ground rubbing my ass.
"Shit, sorry." She helped me up. "I didn't mean to do that, baby."
"Its an involuntary act, it just happened. You didn't have to push me. My butt hurts now." I complained quietly, still rubbing my ass.
Why is she so strong?
"I'm sorry, Riv." She whimpered. Her voice sounded sad and on the verge of tears.
"I-I was kidding." I moved closer to her on the couch. "It doesn't hurt." I lied, it really did.
She sniffed, looking down at her hands. I sat not knowing what to do, and very confused because she didn't seem like the sensitive type. At least not this sensitive.
"Kailee?" I touched her arm and her eyes snapped up to mine.
"I'm sorry, I can't." She whimpered.
"Hey, I wasn't trying to. It's fine, I told you as slow as you want." I tried to comfort, my heart beating wildly.
She shook her head and got up. "No, I mean. I can't. I tried to and I want to but," She started pacing.
I stayed put because I honestly didn't know what was going on. I started feeling guilty, wondering if I pushed too far. I wasn't trying to have sex yet, we were just making out.
"Kailee?" I got up and walked to her but she moved away from me. It hurt.
"Can you go? Please." Her voice cracked. "I'll um, I'll call you. Please, just go." She didn't look at me.
"I d-didn't mean t-to. I-I'm sorry." I stammered, feelings getting the better of me.
She nodded but kept her eyes glued to the floor. "I'll call you." I almost didn't hear her.
"Yeah, okay." I muttered softly. "Good night, Kailee."
I grabbed my jacket and keys, sparing her once last glance before leaving.
We were fine minutes ago.
Did I just fuck up?
