RIVER POV
I watched from behind the glass as he was being interrogated. I showed Cap what I found and he immediately brought him in for questioning. Everything pointed to him but I still felt uneasy about something.
"This is ridiculous, I didn't do shit." Benson seethed. "You're blaming me for the murders? Me?" He fumed.
"We got you on tape leaving that last crime scene. You're done for, just admit it." The officer interrogating him said. "That tattoo of yours identified you. It's the same one. You broke the oath, you should be ashamed."
"You don't seem happy." Cap pointed out from next to me.
"Should I be that one of us is being questioned for murder? Not one or two but ten." I furrowed my brows at him.
"No River, but you should be proud of yourself for solving this case. Keep it up and you'll make detective faster than you anticipated. That's what you wanted, right?" He asked and I nodded slowly. "I'm proud of you kid." He left me standing there.
It didn't even dawn on me that he said he was proud. I couldn't shake this heavy feeling. I went home to Kailee, she always made me feel better. I opened the door and found her waiting up for me. It was way past midnight, she should be asleep.
"River, you had me worried." She came to me.
"It was Benson." I told her then fell into her embrace. "I'm so tired, love." I whispered with my head buried in her hair.
"Let's go to bed, come on." She led me up.
We got ready for bed quietly and then crawled in next to each other. Kailee held me close, rubbing my back soothingly as I laid my head down on her chest. I felt her press a soft kiss on my forehead before saying 'goodnight'. I returned it and shut my eyes, trying to focus only on her.

"I like the white shirt better." Kailee said from behind me.
"Yeah?" I asked as she blocked my vision of the mirror.
"Yeah, but you'll probably get it dirty so no. Leave this one on." She kissed my cheek when I pouted.
Her chin rested on her hands and was placed on my chest. She was smiling that breathtaking smile as I looked down at her. In this very moment, I knew I loved this woman with all my heart. I've known it for a while now, but I always saw us as showing our love through our actions. After all it was mere words, people said it all the time without actually meaning them. I didn't want us to be like that. I wanted her to feel how much I loved her with one innocent touch, a simple glance in a crowded room, or a chaste kiss on the forehead. I knew she loved me too, I felt it whenever she held me at night or gave into my many childish requests.
But of course, it didn't hurt to hear it.
"I-"
Lexi came running into the room cutting me off. She started jumping up and down at Kailee's feet, pretty much pushing me away.
"Alright girl, we're leaving in a minute." Kailee chuckled, petting her head. "What were you going to say?" She asked, turning back to me.
"I'll tell you later." I pecked her lips and took her hand.
We went down to the kitchen and she took out the deserts she made. My favorite, chocolate cream pie.
"I'm not gonna get enough with just two." I whined with a pout.
She laughed, shaking her head at me. "There's one in the fridge, just for you." She pinched my cheek and I smiled blissfully. Man, she was perfect.
We were going to my parents for dinner along with everyone else. I pulled up in front of the driveway, since the other cars filled it up. I quickly got out to open the door for her and was thanked with a kiss, which made me blush.
