RIVER POV

Kailee was back at work and my moms came back so Cam went home, leaving all alone. I was bored and stressed. I wanted to go back to work but that wasn't happening, at least not until another week. I sighed and turned to lay on my back, I could do that now without much pain. As I laid bored, in my girlfriend's bed, I stared up at the ceiling.

I could make her food for when she came home. Nah, it was too early for dinner. Cookies, I'm gonna bake some cookies. I got up and made my way downstairs. I rummaged through her cabinets and got what I wanted.

I made the two different cookie batter, chocolate chips and brownie cookies. Kailee loved brownie cookies. After I finished everything, I placed the cookies in the oven. I set the timer and waited.

Now I was bored again. I dialed Kailee, hoping she wasn't in class.

"Hey, everything okay?" She asked as she answered

"I'm bored, when are you getting here?" I complained with a pout, even if she couldn't see me.

I heard her soft laughter and I smiled at the sound. "One more hour baby, you'll live. I have to go, I'm in the middle of class and I left to answer. Bye." She hung up without waiting for me to reply or apologise.

Now what?

I looked around and decided to leave. Waiting until the cookies were done, I took them out. I placed the ten heart shaped ones separate for her, five each, then packed up the rest. I made sure the house was secure and got into the car.

After getting to my parents, I took the cookies and got out. I boldly sauntered through the door.

"I'm home!" I shouted.

"Shut it." I heard mom hiss at me.

It came from the kitchen so I went to her.

"Don't be mad at me because you didn't run away from us long enough." I retorted.

She rolled her eyes. "We didn't run away." I stared blankly at her. "Fine, we did. What's that?" She motioned to the container in my hands.

"I made cookies." I lifted them with a proud grin on my face.

Mom made grabby hands and attempted to take them. I swatted her hands away, keeping them from her.

"No, Cam gets first dibs."

"What, why?" She asked appalled.

I pointed a finger at her. "You're greedy."

She scoffed. "And to think I brought you into this world."

Is there any time she doesn't throw that in my face?

"That's not gonna work this time. You can't make me feel bad." I turned away from her, because it was working. "Where's Ma?"

"Work." She turned back to her laptop.

"Why aren't you at work?" I placed the container down.

"I just finished a big contract, I'm free until."

"What's that then?" I sat next to her.

I tried to place my head on her shoulder, but soon realised I couldn't. She was too short. I frowned and slouched down until I reached her height. I smiled when I comfortably laid my head down.

"Pictures from our vacation." She turned her head enough to kiss my forehead.

For over an hour, I sat and watched pictures with her. She told me about their time in the Bahamas and what they did. We talked until Ma came home, and only then did I realise the time. I reached for my phone, only to groan. I didn't bring it.

"So I heard you're dating Captain Anderson's daughter." Ma asked while I was freaking out.

Did girlfriends get mad at stuff like that? I was supposed to be at her place, waiting for her. She was probably there looking for me and if she called, my phone wasn't on me.

"Uh, yeah. I am." I answered as I got up. "I'm gonna go."

Before I could leave, Ma gripped my collar and pulled me back.

"Living together already? That's very lesbian of you." She teased.

I frowned deeply. "No, we're not. She's just letting me stay until I go back to work."

"You hear that, baby?" She asked mom.

"I heard." She laughed. "Let her go, she's probably running back to her right now."

"Am not." I went to sit back down.

They both laughed at me.

Ma made me stand and motioned for the door. "Go, don't keep her waiting. They don't like that too much." She whispered the last part, making weird eye motions to mom's direction.

I laughed softly and nodded before leaving.

I got back to Kailee's and walked to her car. I felt the hood, feeling the coolness. Guess she's been here awhile. I entered the house quietly, I didn't know why, I just did. I peeked into the living room to find it empty. I checked the kitchen and found her leaning against the counter, a cookie in hand.

"This is really good." She said when she saw me.

I stuck my hands in my pockets. "Thanks, I made them into hearts for you."

She nodded slowly as she chewed. "I saw that. It was very sweet and thoughtful of you."

Okay, so she didn't seem mad. She just continued to eat her cookies.

"Have you been here long?" I asked.

"About an hour. I thought you'd be here though." She went to the sink and washed her hands.

"I-I know. I took some cookies over to my moms and I got caught up with talking to mom. We were talking about their vacation and everything. Then Ma came home and we were talking. I didn't realise the time and then when I went to check. I forgot my phone here." I rambled out nervously.

Kailee listened quietly, seemingly amused. "River, are you scared right now?"

"Yes, no. I don't know." I mumbled looking at the floor.

She laughed and came closer, throwing her hands around my neck. She pulled me down for a quick kiss before chuckling some more.

"Why would you be scared?"

"I don't know. I never had a real girlfriend before." I muttered, mostly to myself.

She stared into my eyes with that damn smile of hers. "Don't be scared of me. Though next time, a text would be nice. I came home thinking you were here and I got a little worried when you weren't." She backed away but I held her in place. "And should you be driving already?"

I shrugged. "I made it back in one piece."

When she went to answer I cut her off with a kiss. She hummed and kissed me harder. I always left the pace to her, I never wanted her to feel rushed. Most times if not all, she was the one going further. Her lips left mine, moving to my jaw then placing small kisses on my neck. I clenched my jaw to keep any noises from escaping. Her kisses turned into small bites and I pulled away.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

I nodded vigorously. "Yup, I'm good. What do you want for dinner?" I changed the topic.

She noticed but didn't address it. "I can make dinner, Riv."

"Nope, I got it. You go take a shower and rest." I kissed her temple.

"Okay, be careful." She pecked my lips and left.

I sighed and looked down to my buddy. "You're gonna have to do better man. Learn some consideration and control."
