"My love, as knowledgeable as you are, what do you know about war? And money? And alliances?" Thomas questioned as he sat on the buffet by the piano.
"More than you think. Tell me what you think, I'll tell you what I think in return. How about that?"
"Fine then." Thomas stood up and walked towards her. "When we were on deaths door, when we were needy. We made a promise, yes? We signed a treaty. We needed money, and guns and half a chance. Who provided those funds?"
"France." Y/N said and raised an eyebrow.
"In return, they didn't ask for land. Just a promise that we'd lend a hand, and stand with them when they fought against oppressors. Yes, revolution is messy but now is the time to stand and stand with our brothers as they fight against tyranny. Everything Hamilton does betrays the ideals of our nation!"

"You must be out of your mind!" Y/N scoffed. "You think the president is going to bring the nation to the brink of meddling in the middle of a military mess? A game of chess, where France is queen and kingless? You signed a treaty with a king who's head is now in a basket! You think we still have to honour our treaty King Louis? We can do whatever we want! He's dead! Face the facts."
"I'm sorry!" Thomas laughed in annoyance. "Do we not fight for freedom?"
"Yes, when the french figure out who's going to lead them!" Y/N begged.
"The people are leading, Y/N."
"The people are rioting. There's a huge difference, how the hell do you not see that?"

"Okay let's talk about this... have you forgot Lafayette?"
"What?" She furrowed her brows.
"Hamilton doesn't have an ounce of regret! He accumulates debt, he accumulates power and in Frances hour of need, he forgets."
"What the bell are you talking about? You can't just slate him because he has a more valid point than you!" Y/N stated and Thomas smacked her hand off of his shoulder with force.
"Thomas, you know Lafayette is a smart man don't you? He'll be fine. And before he was your friend, he was Hamilton's. If the US try to fight in every revolution in the world, we would never stop. Where would we draw the line?"
"So quick witted." Thomas said turning away from her and taking a shot.

"Alas. I'll admit it."
"I bet you'd make quite a lawyer." He said, knowing that no woman could get a job like that.
"My defendants would get acquitted."
"Yea well someone ought to remind you, Y/N Jefferson." He rested his hand beneath her jaw, holding her chin so she would look up at him.
"What?" Y/N said through gritted teeth.
"You're a woman. And you're nothing without me behind you-"
"Y/N dear! I've come to visit." Y/N's father called from the corridor and Thomas quickly let go of her chin, glaring at her.
"Daddy's calling." Thomas said with his eyebrows raised and arms crossed. Y/N glared back at him before putting on a false smile, and turning to walk to the corridor, her dress swishing past Thomas' legs.
