"Hey Y/N, can I speak to you for a second ? By the side?" Bianca says with a manipulative smile, and Y/N knew exactly what was coming. "So, about your audition."
"It wasn't good enough?"
"It's not that, you just don't fit the voice we... need."
"I didn't know choirs required a certain type of people, but okay." Y/N nodded. "Thanks." She gave a disappointed smile and nod, then walked away.Y/N made her way to the stage and set up her phone on a chair, so she could hear herself sing. In videos in the past, she had never sounded bad but Bianca had put a sudden cloud of doubt over her. She set up the microphone set and took a breath, shaking her head and preparing her voice. "Every time when I look in the mirror, all
these lines on my face getting clearer, the past is gone and it went by, like dusk to dawn. Isn't that the way? Everybody's got their dues in life to pay." She began to sing."I know nobody knows, when it comes and where it goes. I know it's everybody's sin you've got to lose to know how to win."
Xavier walked down the corridor, but the sound of music caught his attention, especially since there was no performance and show on today.
"Half my life's in books, written pages. Live and learn from fools and from sages. You know it's true, oh. All the things that come back to you." Xavier pushed open the door quietly and took a seat right at the back corner, where he would be out of sight."Sing with me, sing for a year. Sing for the laughter, and sing the tear. Sing with me, if it's just for today, maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away. Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year, sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear. Sing it with me, if it's just for today, maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away." A deep breath left Y/N's lips as she prepared herself for the next verse. Her eyes stayed closed as she continued on with the song.
"Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream until your dreams come true.
Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream until your dreams come true.
Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream on." Y/N squeezed her eyes shut as she psyched herself up for the notes she was about to perform. "Dream on;
Dream on;
Dream on, ah!" Y/N let out all of her anger and upset when belted the whistle note. She squeezed her eyes shut and held the note for around 5 seconds before having to take a deep breath. She began to feel dizzy so didn't open her eyes too quickly after finishing the note, and leaned back onto a piece of set that was on stage.Out of nowhere to Y/N's knowledge, Xavier's shadow walked towards the stage clapping his hands.
"That was pretty good Y/L/N. I'm impressed."
"What are you doing here? I thought no one was in here."
"I heard some sounds coming from in here and knew there were no performances on, so I, you know, got curious and came to investigate."
"God forbid you ever get mixed up with Wednesday on one of your missions."
"I'm not mixed up with her in any way now, she wasn't the one for me." Xavier confessed and gn felt her heart skip a beat in her chest.
"Oh... well I gotta go so I'll see you around." Y/N panicked and put the microphone back before speed walking off stage and walking the other side of the theatre.Xaviers eyes followed her as she walked past, and then as she got to the door he realised that the microphone was still plugged in.
"Oh Y/N- the microphone is still-"
Bang.
"Plugged in." He sighed as he pulled himself up onto the stage and unplugged everything, putting the equipment away. When he had finished tidying, he headed back to the main floor and picked up his art book before walking out the main doors and making his way back to his room.After a terrible nights sleep, Y/N headed to the courtyard and sat writing some of her stories, with her earphones in. A heavy yawn escaped from her mouth and as she looked up, Xavier was sat across from her. "Woah." Y/N said in a panic and moved back slightly, before realising that it was only Xavier. Although her heart still beat out of her chest, you'd think anyone who had X-ray vision would think it was about to burst out like a prisoner who had the keys.
"Hey I just wanted to say sorry about yesterday. You seemed upset that someone heard you. Why?" Xavier questioned and Y/N avoided the question, continuing writing. "Okay I get the idea. You're not talking to me and that's fine. I just wanna know... why?"
"I saw the smirk on your face when you came towards me clapping."
"It wasn't a smirk, it was a genuine smile... I was in awe. I've never known anyone to be able to reach that note before."
"Yeah sure."After finally getting some words out of Y/N, Xavier managed to spark up some kind of conversation about singing and art. The two passions they each had. Y/N even closed her book, a huge -but subtle- sign of interest.
"So, what d'ya think?"
"About what?"
"You know, heading into town together, grabbing a coffee preferably not at Tyler's shop. He and Wednesday will probably be there so we'll find somewhere else."
"Have you ever been on a crypt date?" Y/N raised an eyebrow.
"A crypt?"
"Yeah huh, Wednesday was telling me Tyler set one up.
"Ah, maybe we can add that to our to-do list. Just- not right now."
"Right. Not right now."The two of them decided on a smaller cafe just down the road from the Weathervane cafe a few days later. Somewhere quieter. A conversation quickly spiked up since both of them were in a better state, and it couldn't have gotten off to a better start.
Next challenge-trying to sneak into Y/N's single room without getting caught out.
