A/N: In this one-shot, Eddies body got taken out of the upside down as everyone else left. His body went with them."Friday mornings are your favourite huh? I used to meet you down by Skull Rock and you did your hair up like you were famous even though it's only school we're going." Eddie spoke through the walkie-talkie as he sat on the boat in the lake, in hopes that Y/N would reply like they always did.
"Now Friday mornings, I just sleep in. It's like I lost my faith with you. I'm screaming at myself, I don't know if I believe in because I don't know what else I can do. I'm still holding on to everything that's broke and gone. I don't wanna say goodbye because this could mean forever. I might end up in the stars and six feet will never feel so far. Here I am alone in the middle of the lake and it hurts so hard for a million different reasons."After waiting a long 10 minutes for a reply, Eddie let out a sigh and took off his jacket before diving into the water with just his clothes on. Since the two broke up, Y/N's walkie-talkie was on silent in their closet and the only contact they had was with the Steve and the group at school. Y/N met the group at the building where clothes, food and goods were being given away.
They walked over to them and gave a smile which soon dropped when they realised who was missing.
"Where's Eddie? Having a lie in?" Y/N laughed slightly and their faces stayed in a frown.
"Y/N" Dustin called out and limped towards Y/N with his bottom lip trembling as he struggled to get his words out. They turned towards him and was handed a chain with a pick on. It was the necklace he got given by Y/N for his birthday last year."What's this for?" Y/N asked and Dustin tried to speak but his bottom lip continued to tremble.
"He didn't make it."
"What?" Y/N's voice broke and bit their lip. "Surely not, I mean he was in school the other day."
"He was meant to be on lookout while we went back into the upside down." Steve stated as he walked over. "But he must've jumped in after us. He left these too." He handed Y/N the leather jacket with a denim waistcoat that he always wore along with the walkie-talkie.
"Thanks..." Y/N immediately walked off, a sigh leaving their mouth.A month or so passed and Y/N and Wayne collectively agreed that they couldn't afford a funeral for Eddie along with a gravestone. A funeral is temporary, but a gravestone will be there for years to come. The money they were able to spend got put towards a gravestone in a local graveyard. Only Y/N, Wayne, Mike, Dustin and Steve attended the burial. Wayne didn't want anyone else there except for him and Y/N, but out of respect for Eddie, they invited the boys.
Wayne placed an arm around Y/N's shoulder and hugged them slightly.Around 3 times a week, Y/N would go and visit Eddie's grave taking something every time. From a flower, to a pick, or a chain. The gutting feeling just wouldn't leave Y/N's body one day, and they decided to skip school to spend a day at his grave.
"Hey Teddy, it's just me... again." Y/N sighed as she looked at the photo of the hellfire club, specifically Eddies smiling face. Letting out a soft laugh, their face soon dropped. "You, Eddie Munson, took the best of my heart and left the rest in pieces. I was digging through your old birthday letters, a crumpled twenty still in the box. I don't think that I could ever find a way to spend it so it's in the back of the photo frame of that one photo we loved. The only one we both loved." They laughed."Just so you know, I'm still holding on to everything that's dead and gone. I don't wanna say goodbye because this one means forever. Now you're in the stars and six feet's never felt so far. Here I am alone between the heavens and the embers and it hurts so hard for a million different reasons. I'm still holding on. Hoping that somehow you had a body double that died and you're still around playing tricks on people, throwing yourself off benches to be dramatic and doing your stupid cheerleader impression, telling people you thought they'd be mean and scary, when they're the quietest most kindest person in the school."
"Anyway... the first step of acceptance is denial right? That's what your uncle keeps telling me anyway. He pretends he's fine but I can tell he's not. I'm sorry you didn't get to graduate my love. It was the only thing I wanted for you this year. I wanted you to walk that stage, flip the bird, snatch that diploma and run the hell out of there. Then we would go somewhere so far away from Hawkins" Y/N sobbed and wiped their eyes. "It was meant to be our year, Eddie. Your year. But it is what it is, you know. You're there, I'm here and Hawkins is on the verge of breaking into millions of different pieces.
