I finished looking through the files of one of the most dangerous patients in arkham. I put the files to the side of the desk and looked over to the guard stood in front of the door and took a drink of my water. "Bring him in." Was all I said. I was on edge as the door opened but my face showed different.
"You sure you're alright doctor?"
"Yep. I'm fine." I gave a reassuring smile and as the door closed I took a deep breath and cleared my throat quietly.

"Am I intimidating Doctor Y/L/N?" He emphasised my last name. "is it the scars?" He asked placing his elbows on the table. I looked at the green haired man in the orange uniform and shook my head.
"No it's... they uh, they go with your face. You know..."
"Suit me?"
"Yeah." I nodded and looked at his file as he looked around the room. He spoke up, making me jump.
"You wanna know how I got these scars?" He said and I looked up at him and looked up from the files.
"It depends. Which story is it? Are going to tell me the story about your father, your wife or a completely new one?"

He was silent for a minute, as to show he was thinking about what he said. "I'll tell you the truth if you can do something for me Doctor." He said as he licked his lips. These words caught my attention.
"Well tell me what these things are and I will think about it."
"You have to promise to do that one thing for me first." The joker said and I stayed silent. It's the first time I've had him as my patient. The deal can't be that bad... Right?

After a few seconds I decided. "Alright. I'll do it, now what is it that I have to do?" I said, not realising it was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time.
"You need to help me escape and get out of here. Help me get back on the streets. Now... story time." He said. I can't help the most dangerous criminal out of here. He's not safe. "I'm sorry I can't help you out. You don't have to tell me the true story."
"You've done it now. You don't help me, you don't get a very good next few years." I will never admit it to anyone. But I was scared.

"Is that a threat, Joker?"
"Damn right doll. You see. I've seen you around the corridors and courtyards and you seemed to catch my eye. Your a pretty woman, hopefully you can be mine one day." He said licking his lips and turning my hand over so it was base down and put something in it. "Here's my card... Oh and don't forget a gun" He said and held my hand for a minute, stroking it before winking and walking out. When the door was closed, I put my head in my hands.

I've had bad patients before, but I've never been as much of an idiot as to make an agreement with a sociopathic hot- horrible I mean, mess. After a few minutes I gathered myself and walked out of the therapy session room, thanking the guards. Thank god it was the end of the day. I walked to my office, grabbing my bag and jacket before leaving my workplace. I got the bus to my 2 bedroomed house which was only a 20 minute journey on the bus. When I finally got the door unlocked in the freezing rain, I closed and locked the door behind me.

Most of the night, after getting a shower, getting changed into some pyjamas and drying my hair, was spent trying to think of ways to fulfil the promise I made to the joker... Then it came to me. I grabbed the phone beside me and called the workplace. It rang 3 times and I got an answer "Good evening, Arkham asylum reception how can I help you?"
"Hiya, this is Dr. Y/L/N I'm ringing up about a suggestion I have about coming in for tomorrow on my day off."
"Y... yes?" She asked curious as to why I wanted to do extra shifts at a place like that.

I thought it through before saying it "I was wondering if I'd be able to come in and see how others are doing and how they are acting when they are out of the therapy sessions but just me alone so they are in more of a chance of talking to me. Also and can I do all of this on a night shift?"
"Yes, I can hook you in for it to last until 1am, is that alright?"
"That is perfect. Thanks."

It was 10pm the next night and I had got to the asylum and walked through the gates. The office was quiet as I walked up to the reception. "I'm here for the shift I said I would come in for today." I said and the receptionist looked through the diary and nodded so I took that as my queue to leave. I walked straight to the jokers cell and unlocked it, stepping inside it and closing it behind me as the Joker sat up in his small metal bed.

"Gorgeous. You came! It won't be the last time you come for me and not in this way." He said standing up and I rolled my green eyes behind his back. I turned to face him and pulled the gun out and handed it to him. "God why am I doing this?" I whispered to myself and Joker came up behind me snaking his muscly arms around my waist. I sighed and pushed them off then looked him in his dark, broken eyes. I could tell he was broken inside.

"So... what's the plan?"
