"Y/N, well I'm glad you're here... so some mission came up and we're gonna have to put your 21st birthday trip on hold... you understand?" Tony put a sweet in his mouth and Y/N nodded slowly, her smile dropping.
"Yeah yeah that's cool."
"Just a couple weeks... maybe longer."
"No that's okay..." she smiled weakly and let out an upset laugh.
"Look I'll call you next week to iron out the details, okay?"
"Yeah... yeah..."
"It was great seeing you kid."
"You too tony..." Y/N nodded and walked out the lab.

"He'll be back before you know it." Nat stated as Y/N walked past her.
"Yeah it's okay." Steve nodded and Loki watched her sadly, apologising too causing Y/N to stop in her tracks and turn to them.
"You know what? Actually, this works out better for me, you know."
"Y/N, it's all right to be angry." Bucky placed a hand on her shoulder which she shrugged off.
"Hey, why should I be mad? At least he said goodbye this time. I just wish I hadn't wasted my money buying this stupid present." Y/N held up a small statue of a father sitting with his daughter on his lap.

"I'm sorry. You know, if there was something that l..." Peter started and Y/N shook her head.
"You know what, you haven't got to do anything. It's not like I'm still five years old. It isn't like I'm gonna be sitting up every night asking my mum, 'When's Daddy coming home?' Who needs him..? Hey, he wasn't there to teach me how to fight but I learned, didn't I? And I got pretty damn good at it too, didn't I guys?"
"Yeah, you did." Nat looked at Y/N with sorrowful eyes.
"I got through my first date without him, right? I learned how to drive, I learned how to shoot, I learned how to defend myself without him." Y/N counted a finger for each thing she stated and let out a sob.

"I had 16 great birthdays without him. He never even sent me a damn card! To hell with him! I didn't need him then and I definitely don't need him now." Y/N held up her hands.
"Y/N." Steve mumbled.
"No, you know what, I'm gonna get through university without him, I've got a great job without him, I'm gonna marry a beautiful person, and I'm gonna have a whole bunch of beautiful kids. I'll be a better parent than he ever was, and I sure as hell don't need him for that, because there isn't a damn thing he could ever teach me about how to love my kids!" Y/N cried and fell into peters arms as he hugged her. "How come he doesn't want me?" Y/N's voice broke.

Bucky stood up out of his chair and walked out the room in anger. "Bucky!" Sam shouted but got ignored. "I'll be right back Y/N."
"I'm going home, and I'm taking Morgan with me. Not like he has her as his priority clearly." Y/N stated and got Morgan from the crib and the bag she packed when no one was watching earlier. Nat, Loki and Peter didn't stop her, they just said their goodbyes and told her to keep in touch. If that wasn't a sign of Tony's carelessness to family, then Y/N wouldn't know what would be. Y/N got in the car and put Y/N in the car seat before setting off back to her apartment.

Over the next 5 years, Y/N had taken over a technology company from originally working doing admin work. All her hard work had paid off, she had moved out into her own house with Morgan, and could pay for the things she needed and a few holidays and days out with her. She was making food as Morgan was upstairs having a nap, when she heard a quick but quiet knock on the door. Y/N opened the door and invited Tony in, and he was with some of the avengers. After talking for a minute, it quickly escalated into an argument once again.

"You don't get to abandon your kids, never talking to them again after you realise they're gone. And then show up one day, to take your pick of the litter!" Y/N exclaimed and Steve held his hand up.
"Now that's not fair, Tony's made mistakes but he's here now and that's got to count for something!"
"Shut up Steve. This isn't about you!" Y/N turned to Tony and pointed to him. "This is about you. This is about what you didn't do. This is about what I did... and I did a great fucking job, you'll see."

Morgan's feet pattered down the carpeted stairs and she stopped at the bottom. "Hey Y/N can we watch cartoons."
"We did it all, no thanks to you because you weren't here!"
"And I appreciate that Y/N, but I'm here now."
"Hellooooo, who's this?" Morgan asked and walked over to her picking her up.
"Come on Morgan, me and auntie Nat will take you to the ice cream place."
"Yes!" Morgan explained and hugged Y/N's side, kissing her leg as that's where she could reach. "Bye Y/N."
"See you later baby." Y/N said and Steve and Nat took morgan out, leaving Tony and Peter with Y/N in the room.

"She doesn't even know who you are." Y/N whispered.
"I'm her father!" Tony raised his voice.
"You were my father too!" Y/N matched his volume. "And look where we are now... how come you don't want me?"
"I do." Tony mumbled.
"You weren't here! You deserted us!"
"You loved us? That was love?"
"Yes it is!"
"Okay then why did you never try find us?" Y/N questioned.
"You don't know what you're talking about!"
"If you loved us so much then why weren't you here!"
"I tried, I always tried!"
"You were never here! You were never fucking here! You left! Morgan was a baby!"

"I- I-" Tony stuttered and Y/N broke down hugging him, and Tony hesitatingly hugged her back with tears in his eyes. They were broken. They were family. They were a broken family.
