In Mystic Falls

Days after Caroline and Matt had returned, the four friends were sitting in the Grill and for a change reminisced about time in junior high and nearly everything upto vampires being introduced in their lives.

"Ok. This round is on Elena!"-Caroline ordered another bottle of tequila-"truth or dare!"

"Oh, no, I remember truth or dare that night at your house"-Matt said to Caroline.

"Well, you dared to tell the truth then that you were in love with Elena!"-Caroline looked at Matt.

"I know where this is going"-Elena said taking a shot of tequila-"and I will tell you!"

"Out with the truth then!"-Caroline said-"you are in love with Elijoel guy, right?!"

Elena admitted-"I am, so?"

"Then stop being stupid and go and just be with the guy! Or did you got cold feet?!"- Caroline said taking Elena's phone in a swish before she knew what was happening.

Caroline scrolled down in vamp speed and found him under E-Joel and pressed the speedial.

"Give me that phone!"- Elena demanded in her drunken stupor- "Ugh, now I know why I hate vampires! Caroline!!"

"Elena..."-Caroline heard Joel's voice and it was like hearing Elijah, and before he could say anything more, Caroline butted in.

"This is Caroline, one of Elena's best friends, and I am calling to say-"

But now Joel got in-

"Is Elena all right?!"
"Doctor mode first-right!"-she thought.

And the said -"Elena is fine, just miserable and very drunk."

"Is this some kind of a sick joke?!"-she could hear Joel get miffed.

"No. This is about one stupid friend of mine who makes bad decisions all the time and when something great happens to her she bailes. Although she wasn't like this before, but that's a long story. So, if you really care about her you can come to Mystic Falls, Virginia and maybe you two could...whatever!"

"Give me that phone!"-Elena now got to Caroline.

"Here is Elena!"-Caroline passed the phone to her friend, smirking happily.

"Elena?"-Elena could hear Joel.

"Hi..."-Elena said holding her head a bit trying to focus-"Caroline does this...huh...I am sorry"

"Well, I am glad you are fine."-he said.

"Ok... I... yeah, left and there's no excuse for acting like a bitch, although there actually is an excuse.."-Elena went on and her head felt like thousand drums were banging in there.

"Yeah...ahm...listen, I got to go."-Joel said.

"Of course...sorry."

"Yeah... I am sorry, too."-she heard and she looked at her phone for a second and she heard it click off.

She walked out of the Grill. Bonnie and Caroline followed her.

In Toronto, Joel also held his phone in his hand. His mind was buzzing.

"I think pizza?! What do you think?"- Celine said.

"No. I am not hungry. I have to go."- Joel said and took his jacket and went out of the pro bono practice.

He took a taxi. He called the chief-of-staff asking if he could get some days off.

In Mystic Falls, the next day, Elena woke up extremely hung over. Everything about the night before and the phone call. She pulled the cover over her head. Then she screamed. Half a minute later Caroline knocked at the door of her bedroom asking if she was all right.

"I was fine till you made that phone call."-Elena spat at her friend.

"You were not. But, who cares now. He is in Toronto and you are in Mystic Falls - it's not like you are going to meet him in the Grill later and there will be tones of embarrasment between you"-Caroline said to Elena.

Elena got up from her bed.

"My head...who had that brilliant idea to have tequila?!"

"That would be you, Elena."-Caroline reminded her.

Elena wandered off to her bathroom. She put the tepid water to flow all over her.

Flashback

In the taxi to Joel's aparment, Elena looked at her phone and she saw that she had a message from Bonnie.

"Everything all right?!" Joel asked as he saw a flcker of worry on Elena's face.

"Yes." Elena replied shortly, put her phone back in her bag and then moved over to kiss him.

"Nothing can spoil tonight!"- Elena whispered inbetween kisses. But it already had.

Elena got ready for a run. Caroline waited for her friend in the living room.

"I don't get you 'lena..."- Caroline said.

"All right. I will bleed for a while, like I did when Stefan and I broke up. This hasn't even lasted that long."

"It hasn't lasted that long, but he really got into your heart. You said to me that you haven't felt like this ever!!"- Caroline reminded her.

"I know. I will not put him through the crazy. I decided."

"Ugh! You can be so stuborn like that time you sacrificed yourself and Klaus sucked you dry!"- Caroline went off leaving Elena with her thoughts. Elena put her Ipod on.

In Toronto Joel booked a ticket for Richmond.
