Elena walks in the Mikaelson mansion. The Ball is in full swing. Someone takes her shawl away. She looks for a familiar face. Rebekah walks to her and reluctantly welcomes her in.
"He is waiting for you in the gazebo..."- Rebekah slips and then takes off seeing Marcel is about to cause a scene.
Elena walks through the corridors she knew very well down to the balcony whose steps lead to the vast garden.
Flashback
Years back
" Elena, today I did things I abhor ... "
Elena looks out of the window of her room into the night.
Elijah sees her from the distance walking to the gazebo. He wants to go and meet her half way, but then decides to wait.
"Elijah..."- she says as a hello when she finally reaches the gazebo.
"Elena..."- he says and looks at her as if he saw the sun light up in front of him- "thank you for coming!"
Elena nods in acknowledgment of his good will.
"Do you have it?"- he then asks.
Elena nods and passes a small box to him.
"I don't know how to thank you for this. It will save Klaus."- he looks at the box with the cure.
"You don't have to thank me."- Elena says and picks her gown up a bit to move and leave.
"Please... may I apologize once again?... In person?"- he says reaching out to her taking her by the arm gently.
Elena turns around. She sighs and then says-
"We were both in this game of survival... for what it's worth... I asked Bonnie to save you... "- she says.
"I know... I was told...much later..."- he says.
Elena is quiet. She is aware of her pounding heart and the fact that he would listen to it. They look at one another. There is so much guilt and pain between them.
"It has haunted me ever since...all...that happened..."- Elena said- "I would pray that your face would fade away... I tried to hate you, to make it go away... but... "- her look is now one of wanting and needing.
"Elena... shall we put this behind us?!"- he utters closing the gap between them.
Elena nods slightly. Her eyes meet his. He looks for the approval to kiss her.
