"I deserve better than you, Damon"- Elena said to the vampire-" I just didn't want to see it. Always thinking I can make you better. I was such a fool"
Elijah was standing behind Elena waiting silently for her to say what she had to Damon.
"Is that what he compelled you to think and say?! And he is 'better'? He killed a bunch of people in the diner."- Damon hissed at her.
"He was under dark magic. And he fights for the humanity in himself! This is not about Elijah. This is about you, not taking a minute to deal. Whether it was Katherine or me breaking up with you- it doesn't matter- you went and killed Aron- it's like you looked for an excuse to - yeah- I forgot you are a vampire, and like to act as one."- Elena referred to the time Damon nearly killed Caroline's dad.
"And you always wanted me to turn into a fusion of Matt and Stefan. I am Damon!"
"Huh- I just thought you would embrace the humanity rather than the monster"- Elena said-"but, you're right - you can't be what you're not. Goodbye, Damon."
Elena turned around and got in the SUV with Elijah.
For the next few hours driving up north from Mystic Falls, Elena was quiet just glaring out of the window into the night.
Elijah let her process her feelings.
At one point they made a stop to take petrol. Elena went into the diner to get some coffees.
"Two to go"- she said to the waitress.
She returned to the SUV handing over one coffee to the Original.
"Do you wish to carry on?"- he asked her taking the drink placing it into the rack as they got in. Elena just nodded and then said- "You don't mind, do you?"
"No, Elena."- he answered and they continued driving on to where it took them.
