Elijah sat down on the beautiful beach in his pristine custom made suit looking watching the sun disappear on the horizon.
Flashback Mexico seven years earlier
Elena embraced Elijah happily-"I love you"
Elijah held her close and then like someone cut his heart out, he moved away looking at her with his stone cold eyes saying- "I don't believe in love."
She shook her head in disbelief.
"What are you doing? What do you mean you don't believe in love? What is this?- what... OMG- you- why are you doing this?"
"I am sorry, I thought I - it's not going to work. I cannot go lying to you."
"Lying to me...who are you?"- Elena now gulped tears welling up.
"I am sorry. I have to go."- Elijah said and walked away, his heart shattering in zillion pieces.
And it continued drenched in turmoil. He needed to disappear from the world.
And so it was. The vampire took his fancy custom made suit off almost in a ritual manner as if he was shedding his skin off and put on a simple cotton shirt and trousers on and ran into the vast ocean.
Flashback Days earlier, New Orleans
The Original walked into his apartment accompanied by his sister Freya.
"Where did your heart go, Elijah?"
"What?"- Elijah now turned to his sister surprised she would come out with a question like that.
"The way you've just blew off Hayley- I thought she was your mortal enemy. She is in love with you. There is no crime in that."
"I have things to do, before I leave. Can we talk about the spells concerning the serum?"- Elijah said.
"Yes, we can- but- seriously- I just- ahm, have you never been love? Even Klaus fell for Camille. And you just think of magic and the witches, and - there is life outside of this and the family, you know!"- Freya was not letting it go.
Elijah, who would always manage his emotions now snapped shooting out-
"You ask me me where my heart went- well, I left it down in Mexico! I have loved- and I still love, and - every day, it's eating me alive that I hurt-" Elijah stopped there taking a silent breath.
"Hurt- who? What happened?"- Freya slipped.
"The woman I love."- Elijah said looking at his sister, who now saw excruciating pain in his eyes.
*** In Mystic Falls
Elena closed a diary she had found in her family's lake house.
"OMG- this cannot be - OMG"- Elena continued perplexed putting the old diary in her bag.
"What is it?"- Stefan asked.
"I have to find him."- Elena said.
"Find who?"
"Elijah"- Elena said-"I knew there was something different about him."- Elena now grabbed her car keys and went out of the house. Stefan followed.
