Start Again (3)

Elijah watched his brother, his girlfriend and their child together united in a happy hug.

This made his soul fill with some gladness. In all of the darkness there was a little bit of light- a family restored.

Freya comisetated with Elijah, trying to comfort him-
"I will stop Dahlia. She cannot do anything without the immortal instrument. Elena didn't hesitate for a second to save you and millions of innocent people"

Elijah made a silent sigh
-"that's my Elena"- then giving his sister also somber look-
"This could also fail miserably"

"It won't come to that"- Freya said-"trust me" - and then walked out of the room.

Elijah was left holding Elena's note in his hand opening it again.

There was a trail of mistakes he had done over the centuries. Countless. No one is completely infallible. And Elena's tresspass seemed so insignificant at this very moment. He could not think of anything but to have her in her embrace again. Erase all her insecurities regarding his feelings towards her.

Now he put the note in his suit inside pocket. The hours to the summit of the witches would be like walking through live hell.

Hayley went to look for Elijah, who was sitting outside in the garden.

"Hey"- she slipped and he looked at her still very much distraught-"I just wanted to see how you were? It's stupid to even ask - I can imagine what you are going through"

"You can't"- Elijah said-"I don't want to be rude but - I need to be by myself"

"Yeah- ok-"- she turned around to leave and then turned away saying-" She loves you so much- she said that without you it is like someone drilled a hole in her heart"

Elijah just nodded tearing up slightly. That was exactly how he felt being without her.

One flashback after another of them in their happiest moments rolled on in his head even when he was called by Klaus that it was time to go.

And as if falling into a strange kind of haze as the witches battled out - he saw her come to him with her meek smile with eyes full of love -
"I will carry my love and my regret. Always and Forever"

At that moment he screamed running to the magical barrier - seeing Elena on the ground lifeless. He could not go through. And he battled fiercely to go over, till at one moment the magic got released.

Elena raised herself up on the elbows looking around as Elijah swept her up in his arms frantically checking her up caressing her face saying-
"Elena - Elena!" Then kissing her and embracing her like he had not seen her forever.

"Elijah-"- Elena gasped and returned his elated squeeze as well.

An hour later as they walked into Elena's house, Elena stood in front of him now eyes piercing his.

"I-" - they both started in the same voice and stopped-
"Can I speak first?"- Elijah then said.

Elena nodded slightly.

"No one is without fault here"- Elijah said-"Inadvertently I have pushed you to him. And love is something should nurture like the rarest rose. If let unattended it could wither and die. I am not willing to let it die-"

Elena stepped forward and put her arms around his neck- Neither am I" -then placing a kiss on his lips that he met as the water he so desperately needed.
