'this is always...."

Elena listens to the woman on the piano practice sitting at the bar of jazzy dive of the French Quarter.

A man comes in. He looks at the bartender. They share a silent greeting. He sits down a chair away from Elena, who is still with the song just sung. She turns to face the bartender.

"The same"- Elena says to the bartender. The woman pours her another shot of Bourbon.

"Bad day?"- the man asks.

Elena looks at him taking the glass of alcohol and sipping  down the shot says- "I had better."

"Didn't we all?! Elijah-"- the man says introducing himself holding a hand out to her.

"Elena."- she shakes his hand.

"I have never seen you around here."- Elijah continues.

"There is a first thing for everything"- Elena says and her tone of voice  hides a disappointment of some kind.

"So it is."- Elijah agrees.

The woman at the piano starts with another song. And the sadness in Elena's brown eyes prompts Elijah to utter-

"Care to dance?"

"Ahm...yes."- Elena says not knowing why she really agreed to it. It would only be a dance. No harm.

They walk over to the little podium. And as if they were two lost souls they take to the music holding one another as if they had known each other forever.

'Where is love?

Does it fall from skies above?

Is it underneath the willow tree, that I've been dreaming of?

Where is he, who I close my eyes to see?

Will I ever know that sweet hello, that's meant for only me?

Who can say where he may hide... must I travel far and wide- till I am beside that someone who I can mean something to?

Where is love?'

The music stops. Elijah looks at her with a thank you for the dance in his eyes. Elena smiles back a you're welcome. She slips her hand out of his and walks out of the place.
