Elena and Elijah stopped eventually in Lunenburg, a picturesque town in Nova Scotia. At first Elena wanted to stay for a few days, but then in turned out that two months had passes since they had arrived. For both of them it was like taking time away from the world.
"I'm fine, Bonnie"- Elena said catching up with her friend after a long time-"haven't felt like so good in- forever. Getting out of Mystic Falls was the best idea. Probably will stay here for a little while longer. I don't know. We'll see."
"So, Elijah is still there?"- Bonnie was surprised-"wasn't he supposed to get the thing from the caves and go back to NOLA?"
"He went and then he came back."- Elena said.
Flashback
Two days after returning from the caves
"Thank you for doing this for us"- Elijah said.
"Well, thank you for listening to my- you know- endless nothing."
"You're eelcome, Elena. You will stay here?"- Elijah asked.
"I don't know. Maybe a couple of more days. Then I will just jump in the car and drive- see where it takes me. It's the whole finding-back-to-myself trip"- Elena said.
"Good. I am glad for you"- Elijah said. The taxi arrived and Elena gave him a little smile.
"See you around"- she said.
Elijah just nodded back to her and went to the taxi.
Couple of weeks later, he stood in front of the door ringing the bell. Elena opened it and was not surprised to see him there. Everything was said just in one look they had exchanged. He entered the house and no second longer they just went into a kiss.
"Elena"- he gasped a little as they took a breather his eyes smiling at her-"Sorry it took me so long to-"
"but you're here now"- she gave him a little smooch and then said -"Let's Marvin Gaye -"
"Marvin Gaye?-"- Elijah was still behind the times with loads from pop-culture.

"I will explain later"- Elena said placing another kiss which soon resulted in his jacket coming off, her sweat-shirt and other pieces of clothes as they whizzed up the stairs to the bedroom.
