"Elena-"- Bonnie walked in her friend's room knocking slightly on the door.
Elena was sitting on the bay window turning her head from the window to her friend and seeing her burst into another flood of tears.
Bonnie walked over to her rushly.
"I could not explain anything- he just left!"- Elena said sobbing.
"This is all my fault!"- Bonnie said.
"No, it's not. We had to do what we had to do. "
"To your expense, Elena. It is not right!"- Bonnie tried to console her friend.
"Huh-I knew that he would know that something was wrong. It's Elijah. He is different. I should have told him"
"It was too risky. I couldn't take that risk. We needed Esther's magic to open the connection to Ayana. He will understand."- Bonnie said.
"He will, but it still could be the end of us"- Elena said.
"Oh, Elena!"- Bonnie said sympathetically and the two friends hugged. Bonnie felt for Elena. It was a matter of trust. But it was a matter of loyalty to a friend.
Well I can't forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that's just the way
The story goes
You always smile but in your eyes
Your sorrow shows
Yes it shows
I can't live
If living is without you
I can't live
I can't give anymoreElijah's heart was surely kicked by Elena in many ways. And his reaction of exiting hurt after confronting her now rang in his head as a rush behaviour that was surprising for his character. What happened to him? What were all these emotions doing to him? He was not thinking straight. Then he thought of the moment she had looked at him raising her glass to him, his question about what his mother wanted her - her heart jumping nervously as she looked him at and saying that it was nothing.
He let a raging scream out like an animal pierced by an deadly arrow. And then he swished away from the road to the only place his heart wanted to be.***
Elena washed her face and wiped it off with a towel. She pressed her puffed up eyes with her cold hands. A knock at the door made her sway from her thoughts. She went out of the bathroom to see who it was thinking that it now most probably would be Caroline, and surprisingly her friend was not there. She opened the door. And there he stood saying clumsily that Jeremy had let him in.
"Elijah-" - Elena let out like a natural impulse. He was the last person she thought would be standing there. And as her first schok wave passed she moved with her hand to indicate that he could enter the room.
"Elena-"- Elijah slipped - pausing then-
The tension, the anticipation of what is to come was not something words could describe it justly. There were two people who merely by the look burst out apologies that streamed regret, fear of loss, hurt, understanding and love.
And instantly they moved towards one another into an embrace. It was like the sweet release. All the anguish elevated into nothingness.
"Elena- I didn't know what came over me for leaving you at the woods- I was on fire ever since the Ball -it was like a dagger stuck in my heart and I couldn't think clearly- I know you could never want me dead-"
Elena now moved facing him-"I could never-"
"I know that, Elena. I am deeply ashamed for my reaction. And I made you cry- oh, forgive me, Elena-"- he searched for it in her eyes-
"You came back-"- Elena then said meekly-
"My heart could not let me stay away- how could I be without you?! I want you - every day, always - forever- "
She embraced him again. Her heart thumped wildly. It was saying what words could not. She felt so at home with him. She closed her eyes for a moment. She wished this moment would never pass. She wished they were in another world, unveiled from the magical existence.
She had him there with her. Yes, he came back. Against all odds. Love. Love works against all odds.
"Always - forever"- Elena whispered as she now faced him.
"Always- forever"- he whispered as he his eyes gleamed at her sealing it with a kiss.
