"Morning. Hungry?"- Elijah asked as he came in the kitchen putting the pan on the cooker.
Elena smiled and said-"Yes"- walking over to her husband. They gave each other a little peck on the lips.
"Scrambled eggs?"- Elijah suggested.
"Please- and make the bacon really crispy. Thank you."
"I called you - a minute ago- but it was like you were somewhere else-"- he said.
"Yes. Well, you know what today is?"
"I do"- Elijah said-"do you want to go and put some flowers to their tomb?"- the man asked.
"Yes, that would be nice. I can't forget them- they actually sacrificed themselves to close the hell or whatever that was- thing."- Elena said continuing-"You know that sometimes it feels like I can see them there. All of them, not just Damon and Stefan. Mom and dad, too. Jenna- John- I had this crazy flash the other day that we were all on the porch and I could see them- and we all went into the group hug - it was so real"

"Oh, my darling. They will always be with you. I feel the same at times as well with Rebekah. Like she is watching over me. I remember way back then how the Salvatores were willing to give their lives to save you."- Elijah said now looking lovingly at his wife.
"Yeah- and in the end they did. But not just for me- Caroline and Bonnie, too."- Elena said-"oh- that smells so good. Ok, I will lay the table."
As Elena finished setting the table, her phone rang and said- "Caroline- yes- of course - see you later- ok-bye."
Elijah now looked at the brunette to hear out what the phone call was about-
"She's asked if I can get to the Boarding House earlier than planned"- Elena sat down at the table.
Elijah now plated the food for them and poured some orange juice in the glasses.
"We can go there straight after the cemetery."- Elijah said.
Elena took a sip of the orange juice and her phone went again. She uttered a silent sorry to Elijah, but he waved it off with a little smile, knowing how she and her friends were always on the phone about every little thing that went off in their lives-
"Bonnie- hey- no - we are having a late breakfast. Oh- I got two days off- I forgot to tell you- it's going to be great- the Salvatore Charity thing is so huge now- and Caroline is going to donate some proceeds for the hospital this year- and we will finish the new wing and call it the Salvatore wing- I know- they were not really saints- but the board is ok with it- we are going over to the Boarding house in a little while- Caroline wants me there already. It's not like she needs any help with the thing today. What time will you land?- ok- see you there soon."
Elena hung up and continued with her breakfast or rather brunch.
"So, she is going to make it this year?"- Elijah asked.
"Yeah, it will be so great- the three of us together after such a long time."- Elena was happy.
They went on to finish with the food and then got ready to leave for the cemetery, getting flowers on their way. It was the anniversary of the brothers sacrificing themselves to close the gate of the hellish world that broke open with the vault.
At the Mystic Falls old cemetery they laid down the flowers in front of the Salvatore tomb.
Elena and Elijah laced their arms around one other's behind their backs and stood silent for a moment giving respect to the dead. Then they drove off to the Boarding House for the Salvatore Charity party, which was held there every year since, hosted by Caroline of course.
As they parked in front of the Boarding house, Elena said -
"You know- I've always wondered what paradise would look like- and now I know."
"What has brought that on?"- Elijah asked.
"Nothing. Everything."- Elena smiled at the man adding dearly-"Paradise is here with you, and my friends. I love you."
"I love you, too. Always and Forever. "- Elijah said moving towards Elena now, gently slipping his hand up her neck pulling her to him into a loving kiss.
