I walk into the kitchen with a sigh and widen my eyes at the sight in front of me. "What are you guys up to?"
Harry and Hazel are both wearing aprons and they're both covered in, what I assume, is flour. They look at me with shocked features before Hazel rushes over to me. "Me and dad are making breakfast for you, go lay down."
"What?" I furrow my eyebrows as she grabs my hand, leading me towards my room but I stop midway, "honey, I don't need to lay down."
"But this was supposed to be a surprise for you, can you pretend you didn't see it?" She pouts and I smile faintly at her words, looking over my shoulder to glimpse at Harry as he stares at us with a smile plastered on his lips.
"See what?" I wink at her and she sends me a beaming smile, rushing back to the kitchen and closing the door so I don't see anything.
I'm already six months along my pregnancy and if two months ago Harry was protective, now it's even worse. I've been finding it funny how careful he's been with me, it's like I'm made of glass to him.
I decide to sit down on the couch and watch this show Hazel's been obsessed with lately, Bluey. I don't know why but it's pretty entertaining.
Today I'm taking both of them to an appointment with me so they get to know the gender of the baby. I already know it but Harry wants to come along with me to an appointment before getting told what the gender is.
After a while, Harry gives me a plate with pancakes before showing me another plate with cookies. "Do you want one? I just took them out of the oven."
"Yeah!" Hazel sits down next to me, changed into clean clothes and sipping on orange juice while Harry grins down at us and gives each of us a cookie.
He sits down in front of me on the floor and I tilt my head. "Have you eaten?" I ask and he looks at me with a faint smile while nodding, his hair moving slightly with the motions of his head.
"Yes darling, now eat because we have an appointment to go to." He pats my thigh and Hazel glances over at us with a pensive look and I can almost see her thoughts.
"Can you tell me the gender of the baby?"
"Hazel! I thought you wanted to know after the appointment," Harry frowns at her, setting a hand over his chest before pouting, "you betrayed me."
"No, I did not! I'm just curious." She defends herself, glancing over at my baby bump while I eat my last pancake with raised eyebrows.
"I feel like we should do one of those huge gender reveal parties." I shrug, finishing my breakfast and Harry takes my plate while getting up, shaking his head at my words.
"Then we'd have to wait longer, no that's not happening."
I roll my eyes when he walks away and into the kitchen and Hazel giggles at my actions before I smile at her, getting up slowly and setting a hand over my stomach which causes Hazel to panic.
"Oh my God, mum are you okay? Dad! Mum is going to give birth right now!"
I furrow my eyebrows but before I could say anything Harry sprints to the living room and trips before standing in front of me with widened eyes. "Okay, we've trained for this, let's j–"
"I'm fine!"
Hazel sighs in relief and Harry falls on the couch dramatically. I scoff at their behaviour and walk to mine and Harry's room so I can get ready, leaving them in the living room.
As much as I sometimes find funny the way Harry acts at the moment, it wears me out some other times. I know he only means well but his stress sometimes freaks me out and it's starting to freak Hazel out too. He's influenced her.
After we're all ready to go, we put on our jackets and walk towards the car. I buckle Hazel in her seat before sitting down on the passenger seat while Harry sits on the driver's seat.
"We should get a dog," Hazel says confidently as the car starts moving, earning a faint laugh from me and a playful scoff from Harry.
"You wouldn't handle a dog." He says with a shake of his head and I frown at him while slapping his thigh at his words.
"We'll think about it, sweetheart."
"Oh! Dad, can we go to that store you promised to take me to last week?" She suddenly asks, an excited smile over her lips as Harry raises his eyebrows.
"Why do you want to go there?"
She goes silent.
"I saw a cool doll in it." She mutters, I catch her turning her head to look outside while I side glance at Harry who presses his lips together as if afraid to reply.
I've had this conversation before with Harry, he spoils her too much. Every time we go to a store she always ends up asking for a toy, I refuse most times but Harry always decides to step up and buy it. Sometimes I feel like when it comes to this, Hazel sees me as a mean mum.
But we can't always give her what she wants, besides she only plays with a toy one day and then forgets about it so I consider that a waste of money.
"We can go dear," Harry smiles at her through the mirror and she immediately grins while I roll my eyes and cross my arms. Harry notices and sets a hand on my thigh as if to calm me down.
Harry parks the car after a while, the hospital I'm used to seeing now stands in front of us and Harry steps out of the car quickly to open the door for Hazel and I, holding onto my hand tightly when I step out, a stressful look on his face.
"Hey," I set a hand on his chest and pat it playfully, "relax!" I kiss his cheek and he looks down shyly before grabbing Hazel's hand as well as we begin walking towards the entrance of the hospital.
After a long wait, with Hazel running around and begging to play games on our phones to the point of nearly draining the battery of both phones, we're finally called in by my doctor.
"So Eve," She smiles brightly at us, and Hazel paces around the room in a way to distract herself, "here for an ultrasound am I right?"
"Yes! And they still don't know the gender so let's pretend I don't as well." I laugh lightly, side-glancing at Harry as he stares at the doctor nervously.
"Oh! Exciting!" She stands up and pats the place where I'm meant to lay down while setting a stool next to it for Harry and we immediately take our places, Hazel still too busy playing.
Harry grips my hand and I look at him as the doctor gets everything ready for the ultrasound and I look into his eyes curiously. Why is he so nervous?
I feel something cold on my bump and realise the ultrasound has started, the room is dead silent and the screen in front of us displays weird images of the baby.
There's a sudden heartbeat filling the room loudly, strong and constant and it makes Harry gasp while I smile over at him.
"Everything seems to be alright, fortunately!" She says happily and Hazel finally decides to take a seat on Harry's lap and look at the screen.
"That looks like an ET."
I burst out laughing at her words before bringing a hand to my mouth to muffle my giggles and the doctor chuckles.
"Well that ET is going to be a very beautiful girl one day."
Harry gasps and Hazel smiles brightly at her words before they both look at me with bright looks in their eyes, Harry's eyes watered and Hazel's smile wide.
"Oh my God." They both say at the same time and the doctor begins cleaning up my bump before tidying up all of her materials while Harry and Hazel attack me with a hug after I sit.
Harry kisses my cheek before hugging me tighter. Hazel walks away from the hug after getting tired of it and begins chatting with the doctor cheerfully, telling her about how she's going to play with her little sister and I pat Harry's back as he keeps hugging me.
"I love you."
Long time no see! I hope you enjoyed it! I'd be very happy if you could check out my other story "Toxic"! Thank you all for your support and patience, I love you all!!
