Chapter 45 - A Small Problem.....

Last night was eventful, for so many different reasons. I didn't get much sleep last night, and to my surprise I have a knock at the door. It is only 10am, and I eventually make my way downstairs.

When I open the door and see who it is, my heart races that much further. It is Pete, and I quickly let him in. He looks like he hasn't had much sleep either, and judging by the look on his face, I am bracing myself.....

Pete gets to the point, and when he finishes even I am worried. He apparently ran into my former BIL Charles Powell this morning, and he asked if I paid for Lil's outstanding Medical Bills.

Pete dodged the question, but apparently both Charles and Anthony want to see me. I am surprised that they would want to, considering how I mistreated their sister all those years ago.....

Pete gave them his address, and they are going to meet me there in two hours. Oh crap, I haven't spoken to Cyn yet, and now, this could undo everything......

I quickly have a shower and make myself decent. Pete tells me Charles informed him the Powell Family watched my interview last night, and lets just say I am going to be receiving an ear full - I knew this could happen, and to be honest I hadn't given it much thought. I was preoccupied with so many different things......

Now I have no choice, and I hope to high heaven this doesn't backfire on me......

When I was out getting the paper this morning, I never expected to run into Charles Powell. I haven't seen him in over 15 years, and he was just as surprised to see me as I was him.

We got through formalities when Charles asked me point blank if John was behind the payments for his Mother's care. I quickly said no, and he could see I was hiding something.....

When Charles says he and Anthony want to see John as their family saw his interview last night I held my breath - and when Charles asks to see John today, as soon as possible I knew this wasn't going to go away.

I suggested he and Anthony meet at my place at Noon, and John will be there to speak to them. I give Charles my address, and he takes his leave. I had no plans on visiting John today, as I wanted him to get through the fallout of his interview in case Cynthia and Julian show up there.

This, however, has forced my hand. The moment I arrive at John's, I can see he hasn't had much sleep, and he could tell by the panicked look in my face something is wrong. The moment I tell him everything, his face turns white.

He quickly has a shower and we head to my house, and I am starting to dread how this day will pan out......

I have just arrived at the BBC, and the phones have been running hot. The front desk has been overloaded with calls, so much so, that some of the office girls have had to help answer the phones....

I am on my way to see Sir Ian Trethowan, and as I walk into the news room, it is bedlam, and everyone is clapping and cheering me. Obviously this has been a commercial success, and as I head to the top floor, I am greeted by my boss and the legal team of the network.

Sir Ian Trethowan gets up and shakes my hand a job well done, and as we get through the formalities, I am told we may have a small problem....

Word has got back to the USA about the interview, and Yoko Ono's lawyers have requested all the footage we have. Apparently, Yoko is concerned about their son Sean, and while I don't believe this for a moment we knew this was a small possibility.

The lawyers ask me some questions, and it is decided we will not be handing anything over to Yoko, and John's lawyers have since been contacted and notified. They are going to protect John's interests, in tandem with our own legal team....

For me, the fact Yoko is pulling this stunt tells me John was smart to do this - now that this is out there, no amount of legal manoeuvring will help her. In fact, I strongly believe this will make it worse for her......

I feel like I have been driven over by a bus. I struggled to sleep last night, and when I see Mum she looks like she has been crying all night.....

In typical Dad fashion, his actions are yet again making Mum and I's life more difficult than it has to be. While Dad has totally screwed up, I just wish he could be normal. I know that is a pipe dream, but right now, Mum and I both need normal.....

Today I feel so despondent. I keep replaying John's interview over in my head, and the more I do, the more I cry.....

The man I have loved all my adult life is bringing out emotions I have for so long wanted to leave behind. Right now, I am a complete mess, and nothing is helping. I am seeing Jim tonight for dinner, and to be honest, I really need his support....

When I see our son, he looks a bad as I do. Truthfully, I am not sure what I was expecting - after all, John Lennon is truly an enigma. Sadly for me, he will always be my enigma......

I am not happy right now.....acquaintances of mine in the UK have informed me John had done an interview with the BBC, and it was aired last night their time.

Apparently, our marriage was a topic for discussion, and as such, I want copies of everything. I quickly notified my lawyers this morning, as I am concerned for not just my welfare, but that of our beautiful boy. To say I am livid is an understatement, and I am so going to make John pay for this.

He thinks he has me beat, well guess what, he better think again......
