"Sweetheart, do you remember Julian?" Shit. "Of course you remember him... my goodness that's such a silly question." My mother was mumbling, her words barely coherent. "Now, how do I say this?"
More like, how do I deal with this situation? Oh yeah mom, I'm the one who slit Julian's throat because I'm actually an assassin... not a fucking accountant and Julian was a Mafia member who trafficked underage girls! This whole situation made my head hurt just thinking about how much blood I had on my goddamn hands.
Nico was staring hard so I thought he should hear this conversation. I had to start letting him into my life, I said I love you after all. Pressing speaker, I placed the phone down on the counter and listened intently to her next words.
"Honey, your cousin Julian died." I pressed my lips together, holding two fingers to my temple as I thought hard about how to respond.
"Respond." Nico spoke through gritted teeth, giving me a weird look that made the corner of his mouth move upwards.
"Oh my goodness! How did that happen?" Nico stuck his hand out in the air and rolled his eyes, grabbing his cup of water next to him to preoccupy himself from this awkward situation. Maybe I sounded a little more monotone than I should.
"Well, they are saying that it was an attempt murder due to the injuries on his body. I don't know what type of sick person would slit poor Julian's throat! Can you imagine?" I sunk back down in my seat and clasped my hands together.
"No, I can't believe they would do that. So sickening."
"I know, I know. Anyways, we are having a funeral tomorrow I would like you to be there sweetie." Nico's head shot up as he looked me back in the eyes, making another weird face at Mary's commentary.
"I don-I'm not sure I can... it's going to be really difficult for me to handle his death." My eyes were frantic as I shrugged my shoulders in Nico's direction.
"Aw Sagie, that's more of a reason to come! You know I love comforting you." Please, that's the last thing I want right now. Mary's hugs weren't graceful, they were suffocating. I held my tongue at the top of my mouth, pondering more ways I could possibly get out of this goddamn situation.
"You're doing great." Nico whispered, sticking both of his thumbs up in an attempt to mock me.
I shot him a death stare, turning off speaker and pressing the phone back against my ear. "Mom, I'll think about it... ok? I have to go now but I'll let you know."
Mary let out a sigh, one which I definitely did not miss when living with her. It wasn't normal, it was dramatic and extended to the point where you would want to strangle her. "Alright darling, I love you." Nope, I am not saying that back.
Quickly hanging up the phone, I lightly threw it onto the counter and placed my palms on the top of my head. "Ugh! What the fuck have I gotten myself into?"
"Sounds like a you problem." Nico folded his arms into his chest, giving me a quick smirk before man spreading his legs.
"Nico... I do not need your fucked up humor right now." Nico didn't pay attention to my words, he just trailed his eyes down to my breasts.
"How about you change out of my shirt right now before I take you over this counter." Nico stood up, grabbing my plate and placing it into the sink before continuing to stare.
"Wow, you're really that horny? So desperate." I got up from my seat to, taking off my shirt and throwing it into his chest.
As I went to walk away, Nico wrapped the shirt around my neck and yanked me back towards his body. "I am so desperate, what are you going to do about it?" Nico gripped the shirt tighter which caused pressure on my throat as I began to struggle breathing.
