"Here, come on. This seems like a good spot." Tom told her gesturing for her to follow him to a street that was completely empty, nothing alive or dead seemed to be passing through. The past two days, they had been walking non-stop, Tom putting rest to the second thing on their list. But after those two long and hard days, they were all very tried, even the dogs.
The only good thing that came with these painful days was the slight healing of her throat. Stopping in front of an old corner store, Juliet looked up at the warn down sign, it was probably used for filling up cars with gas back then, but now it was nothing really. Only for them, it would be a place to rest at night. As she was looking around, Tom went on to open the door with some force.
While waiting by the doorframe, he gave a loud knock on the wall, it was only to draw any revenants that were in towards them so they couldn't get surprised later on. After a while of waiting he let out a sigh, at least they weren't any inside, maybe some that weren't able to walk or were just caught in something. "How does you're throat feel?" Tom questioned, instantly grabbing the girls attention.
She had taken his advice about not talking as much, turned out it actually worked out in her favor. "Better..." she said with a small smile, it still sounded raspy, but it didn't hurt as much when she spoke so that was a good thing. While Tom made small remarks about her staying silent and how he quite liked it, he was only just teasing her about it. He never really did mind the small conversations he had with her now that he thought about it.
Getting her to rest her voice for a few days was for her to get better, believe it or not, he was actually a bit concerned. Gesturing for Juliet to come inside the old building, he held the door open for her, letting the dogs inside as well before letting it close. "Can you hand me your rope?" Tom questioned, putting his backpack on the small counter that was once used to pay at, the boy kneeling down on one knee in front of the door.
Taking off her backpack as well, Juliet searched for the thick rope in its depths and handed it to him. Tom looped the rope between the two black handles attached to the door, the glass that it was made up of looked like it was about to break from all the cracks it had. This was to only prevent people from coming in while they slept. Looking down at the thick knot he had learned from one the of the soldiers back in zone blue, he stood up in satisfactory.
"I can just keep watch you, maybe walk around outside." She suggested with a shrug of her shoulders. They never went to sleep at the same time, they always took turns. "No it's fine. We should get as much rest as possible while we still can." Making her stay up and keep watch while he slept, just didn't sit right with him, he wanted the both of them to be well rested for tomorrow, and that meant the two sleeping a bit longer than usual.
