This was his last chance, it was now or never. If somehow, someway he messed this up he was sure to be a goner. Executed in from of hundreds, without him getting a chance to explain himself. He knew he should've done this a long time ago, he wished he did, but Tom knew he wasn't ready.

Now him being seventeen years old, he felt that this was the time, he was old enough, he knew a lot more and he was well equipped. Being from zone blue, he was trained since the day he could walk. The other ones were like that but most of the soldiers were here, no wonder why every other zone was scared of them.

Tom understood, but he wasn't like that. If anything he hated it here more than the people outside. They were most known for being the most ruthless, Tom didn't like that. When he was younger he thought it was awesome how other people were scared of them, until he found out why, he just couldn't take part in it anymore.

There were worse people out there, and he knew he was definitely going to cross paths with them at some point along his journey, but he knew he could take them. The only thing good about being from here was that they were taught well in the weapons and combat department, not so much in the humanity part.

For Tom it didn't really matter about what or who he would come across along the way, anything to get to his family. Even though it had been two years since that fateful night, he had hope they were alive. Word around the place was they they took all of the unlucky ones to Texas.

So that was his first bet, Washington all the way to Texas sure would be a long trip, but it was worth it. They had to be there, there was no where else they could be. He had no idea why Texas but he heard of some communities by there, only a few though, maybe two or three, the rest got over run a long time ago.

"Okay Tom, you can do this." He told himself while making sure everything he needed was in his backpack. He couldn't take absolutely everything, necessity's only, with the exception of his brothers little toy car. He had hope that he would find them, and when he did, he would be sure to give Sam his long lost toy back.

That is if the little boy remembered him at all, he had a feeling that he had to introduce himself all over again. It made him sad thinking that his sibling had maybe forgotten all about him, it had been years. After all that time looking after him, the long nights and worrying just down the drain.

Zipping up his backpack he reached for an almost finished up roll of duck tape, it may not look like much but you'd be surprised how duck tape can probably save someone's life. A lot of the times, the more smarter Revenants liked to play dead and grab a hold of the ankles happy to sink it's rotten teeth into anything that moved.
