Chapter 31- Breath

You were at the waiting room, getting your make up done. As you got your make up done, you realise that JongHyun is still not present. Where is he? He's normally not that late. Then there was a knock on the door. You turned around and saw JoonMyun, BaekHyun and JongDae walking in. You greeted them and they sat down to get their make up done. You don't get why JongDae was here because he doesn't need to do a recording. Hence, you decided to ask them..

You: oppa. Why is JongDae here?

BaekHyun: he's replacing JongHyun hyung. JongHyun is sick.

You: ahhhhh ok...

You turned your head and play with your phone as your hairstylist does your hair. You were having curls. BaekHyun and JoonMyun could sense some kind of awkward tension because the four of you will talk heaps and heaps. JoonMyun decided to go up to you.

JoonMyun: is everything OK?

You: yes. Why?

JoonMyun: you're just acting different today. It's similar to when I pour ice cream on you when I was still a trainee and you got mad at me.

You: really?

JoonMyun: you're giving everyone the silent treatment because you're mad right?

You lean your head on JoonMyun's shoulder and he place an arm around you so you could be more comfortable.

You: please don't say it anymore. I might break down and ruin my makeup. Then stylist unnie will be mad.

JoonMyun: I understand.

You and JoonMyun then continue to talk about other things which help you keep your mind off him. Then, the staff called you and JongDae up for a prerecording. You walked ahead with JongDae behind you. You had to act cheerful now even though you don't really want to because you know there will be cameras around. As you walked on stage, you grabbed a drink bottle and had a sip first. You and JongDae greeted the staff and told them to take good care of the both of you. Then you put on your earphones and started recording. While he sang, you keep telling yourself to not think about it; to pretend that he's JongHyun. However, when you sang the line "There was so much I wanted to say but I couldn't say anything. We said that we were okay, comforting each other in pain," your tears started to form. Your tears started dropping when you sang the chorus for the last time so you just closed your eyes. Although you were tearing up, you still kept the correct pitch and everything. You decided to open your eyes when you sang the last line.

You and JongDae: ~ Please let me hear at least your breath~

You could see that JongDae had teary eyes as well. Then you could see him mouthing I'm sorry. You just looked at him while he looked at you before the director calls cut. The two of you bowed to the staff before going off stage to check the camera. Your stylist brought a tissue and you wiped your tears as well as blowing your nose. The director was praising about how you manage to bring a good feeling to the song and said that this clip will be a hit. Your manager told you of doing a good job of not going out of tune. You just smiled. The director was satisfy with the result so the two of you could take a break before the actual recording. You guys thanked the staff and walked back to the waiting room. You sat on the chair and played on your phone before your stylist retouched your make up. She was saying how she couldn't believe that you would cry.

Stylist: seriously. You've performed this song so many times with JongHyun and you never teared up. When you perform with JongDae, you teared up. Is there something between you and JongDae.
