Max's POV ~

I flipped off a tall jock in gym for calling Will a queer. I mean, It's not like he was lying, but it was definitely rude of him. I knew that Will was 100% queer, but what that dude called him was unnecessary.

"You are seriously badass." Dustin admired my confidence. "Thanks." I replied lazily. Flipping people off really wasn't anything new or brave, it was a normal reaction. But I guess dorks like my friends weren't used to flipping people off all the time.

Jane was at band practice. I always teased her for being in band, it was so dorky. But her nerdy little flute was so adorable. Of course I would never want to admit that out loud, but it was true.

It was awfully boring without Jane around, the boys didn't really bond with me that much.

"Max why were you late to school today?" Mike asked, I looked at him with a bored facial expression.

"I was busy making out with your sister Nancy." I joked, Mike's jaw dropped and he wore a disgusted facial expression.

"I'm joking idiot. I slept in again." I rolled my eyes at how gullible he was. Mike huffed, "That wasn't fucking funny."

"It kinda was." Lucas chimed in, Mike nudged him in the side. I laughed.

"What's so funny about making out with my sister??" Mike crossed his arms.

"Stop being so sensitive, Michael. Take a joke." I pinched his cheek, causing Mike to slap my hand away and roll his eyes.

"We're gonna go to the lake later to swim, wanna come with?" Dustin offered with a kind smile.

I shook my head in response. I knew that Jane didn't like swimming in lakes, and the last thing I wanted to do was make her feel left out. The boys seemed to leave her out all the time, so whenever I could, I'd ditch them and hang with her instead.

"Why? You never come swimming with us." Lucas asked, his eyebrows scrunched.

"Because you guys know Jane doesn't like swimming, but you do it all the time anyways." I continued walking with them, my fingers playing with the rim of my hoodie. "I don't wanna leave her by herself."

"You're so soft for Jane." Will snickered. I huffed and rolled my eyes at him.

My least favorite thing was being confronted about my feelings. I never wanted to hear the truth about myself, most specifically the truth about my homosexuality.

"You didn't deny it." Will teased, waggling his eyebrows.

"Yeah yeah, whatever.." I mumbled.
