Jane's POV-

While Max was getting her wisdom teeth removed, I was sitting in the back of Susan's car with Delilah, waiting for her to be wheeled out of the building in a wheelchair.

"She'll be out any second." Susan looked back at me with a grin. I nodded and smiled excitedly.

I couldn't wait to see her on anesthesia, I already knew it would be super entertaining. I had no clue what was in store for me.

Delilah played with my fingers as we waited and it was really cute. I only pulled my hand away when she'd try to put my fingers in her mouth. Susan was thankful because I was keeping her entertained.

"There she is!" Susan chuckled as she pointed at Max being pushed to the car in a wheelchair. She had cotton stuffed in her mouth, her mouth wide open, her eyes closed, and her arms dangling off the sides of the wheelchair. She looked superrrrrrr high.

I opened my door and exited the car so I could assist the nurse pushing her. Once Max reached the car and the nurse reached down to help her stand up, her eyes fluttered open and she gave the nurse a very concerned look.

"Why am I outside?" She panicked, the cotton in her mouth making it slightly difficult to tell what she was saying.

I grabbed her hands and tried to pull her up but she whined and sat back down in the wheelchair.

"My feet don't work!" She cried out, "I cant feel my feet!"

"Max, shh, calm down." I bent down and caressed her hands with my thumbs.

She made eye contact with me and gasped heavily, "Jane?!?"

"Yeah! It's me!" I pretended to be shocked with her, "Now let's get you in the car!" I tried to pull her up again but she hesitated.

"Woah woah woah woah woah woah woah. No way. Where are you taking me?" She asked.

"We're taking you home Max." I answered.

"I don't wanna go home, I wanna go to the pool." She frowned.

"It's November love." I tried my hardest not to laugh.

"I fucking hate Indiana Jane it's so cold here! I don't wanna be here anymore! Nobody fucking likes Indiana!" She complained as her eyes began to glisten with tears.

"Maxine! Watch your language!" Susan exclaimed.

"Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!! I am stressed out mom! Let me express myself!" She yelled, a few tears escaping her eyes.

"Hey, calm down." I placed my hands on her shoulders.

"Please Jane!" She began sobbing and held her hands out to me.

"Please what?" I asked in a gentle tone.

"Get me outta this wheelchair now please!" She begged with tears running down her cheeks.

"Okay, okay." I responded, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her up with all of my strength. The nurse stepped over and opened the passenger side door for me to put her in the car.

"No Jane I don't wanna sit with my mommmmm!" She whined as I sat her down in the seat.

"You need to! Your mom wants you to sit beside her-"

She cut me off by sobbing hysterically. My jaw dropped at the scene, I had never seen her so upset over something like this. She was gripping my shirt and trying to stand up.

"I- want- to- sit- with- youuuuu" She choked, sobbing between each word. There was snot running into her mouth at this point.

I was willing to do anything I could to stop this chaos so I looked at Susan for help and she just gestured towards the backseat.

"Shhh Max, shhh, it's okay it's okay. You're gonna sit with me in the back, alright?" I struggled as I pulled her back into my arms. She took a couple unsteady breaths to calm herself down and nod weakly.

While I got into the car, the nurse held onto Max so she wouldn't fall over, and once I was in my seat I held Max's hands as she got into the vehicle.

Once she was in and all buckled up, the nurse smiled and waved at Max while shutting the door. Max waved back with confusion as we drove away from the building.

"Who was she?" She asked me.

"The nurse." I answered, "She helped the dentist take your wisdom teeth out."

I could see panic growing on her face as she reached her hands up to her mouth. She put a couple fingers in her mouth and screamed once she felt the cotton.

"No screaming Max." I scolded her gently as if she were a child, "Inside voices okay?"

"Yeah honey, you need to be careful. You wouldn't want to startle me while I'm driving." Susan added.

"But theres something in my mouth!" She began to get emotional again. I immediately intertwined our hands, trying my hardest to keep her from sobbing again.

"It's okay love, it's just cotton." I assured her.

She immediately pulled it out of her mouth and whimpered worriedly when she saw the piece of cotton covered with blood.

"My tongue.." Her voice cracked. Before I knew it, she was crying again.

"No baby, no, that's not your tongue. Put that back in your mouth." I frowned at my scared girlfriend and attempted to put it back in her mouth, "That needs to stay in your mouth okay?"

"Jane, why did they cut my tongue off?" She sniffled, lying her head on my shoulder tiredly.

"They didn't cut your tongue off." I promised her.

"Yeah they did, look!" She tried to pull the cotton out of her mouth again but I gently pushed her hand away from her mouth.

"It's just cotton Max, there's nothing to worry about." Susan guaranteed her.

"How do you know that mom??" She exclaimed worriedly.

"Let's make a deal. If you stop freaking out back there then I will get you a slushee from the gas station." Susan suggested.

"Oh my god yes yes yes!!" Max squealed like a kid on Christmas, clapping her hands together with excitement.
