Chapter 7 - Steve's Party p1 ♡

Max's POV ~

It was a rainy night, the perfect weather for an indoor party. Me and Jane were preparing ourselves for Steve's party, since he had invited our friend group. I still didn't really understand why he thought it was a good idea to invite the nerdiest nerds of Hawkins High.

"Oh my god, Max, have I told you about the new lipgloss I bought?" Jane asked me in between applying her lipgloss.

I shook my head in response, causing a small smile to tug at her lips. "It's amazing! I got it from the mall last weekend. It smells like mangos and it tastes like mangos too." She explained, holding it out slightly to me.

It would be nice if I could try it out on your lips- "Ooh, do you want me to try it on?" I asked, totally ignoring my thoughts.

She nodded her head eagerly, "I think it will look great on you! I mean, I never saw you as a lipgloss kind of girl because your lips are already naturally glossy, wait- I mean I didn't know that your lips were already glossy already- I-I just noticed it right now and I did not know they already were.. Oh god.. Max, I didn't mean it like that-" She was stammering so quickly that I had no clue what the hell she was even talking about.

"Calm down Jane, it's just lip gloss. Don't get all flustered on me." I joked, applying a thin layer of the lipgloss to my apparently already 'glossy' lips.

Jane observed me, waiting for a reaction. I rubbed my lips together softly, spreading the gloss evenly.

"Holy shit, that really does taste like mangos." I laughed lightly, handing the gloss back to Jane.

She smiled in response as she put the lipgloss back in her pocket. I could tell she was still a bit flustered from all that damn stammering she did. But I had to admit, it was quite adorable.

"So.. Are you excited for the party?" Jane asked, a tone of nervousness evident in her voice.

"Hell yeah!" I exclaimed, "We actually get to go to a real party, with alcohol."

I was beyond excited to go to the party, and it was even better that Jane was going with.

Jane giggled, standing up with her purse, "Are you ready to go now?"

"Mhm." I replied, standing up with her.

Jane wore light blue jeans, and my red hoodie. And I wore ripped jeans, along with a cropped black t-shirt.

"Your hoodie smells very good." Jane lifted the collar of the hoodie up to her nose.

I snickered, "Thanks, but why are you sniffing the hoodie anyways?"

"It's your hoodie and I wanted to see if it smelled like you." The brunette played with the strings attached to the hood.

"So does it?" I asked, leaning on my door frame.

"Mhm." She hummed, walking closer.

"Let's go, Janie bear" I grinned, grabbing my purse off of the dresser.

Jane rolled her eyes playfully at the nickname I knew she hated.
