Max's POV-
"Oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit!" I panicked as I looked over at the digital clock on my bedside table reading, '8:45AM'.
I was 30 minutes late to school and I wasn't even out of bed yet. Great going Mayfield.
I quickly got out of my bed and threw on a pair of jeans and a black hoodie with a small rainbow stitched near the heart area. "I hope I don't get hate crimed for this." I spoke to myself, looking down at the rainbow.
I literally shoved on my socks and shoes, grabbed my backpack, and ran out of the house with my skateboard to ride to school. I didn't even care about fixing my hair, it was always crazy anyways.
I was gonna be even more late to school since I was riding on my skateboard, but I didn't wanna ask Billy or my mom for a ride because I didn't want them to know I was late.
I always woke up by myself and left without telling anybody, so they probably thought I was already gone earlier anyways. My family honestly doesn't give a shit where I am in the morning.
Once I arrived at school, I rushed to my locker, shoved my skateboard in there, and slammed the metal door shut so that I could proceed to my almost finished math class. At least I am missing math class, it's the worst class I have.
I gripped the doorknob but it would budge. Great. Now somebody has to let me in. I sighed through my nose as I knocked on the door three times, I could hear the teacher's voice pause.
The teacher let me in, and all eyes were glued to me as I walked to my seat next to Jane.
"Take a picture, It'll last longer." I said sarcastically to the students staring at me. They quickly looked away and I rolled my eyes. I swear to god, people cannot keep their eyes to themselves.
"Care to explain where you've been, Maxine?" The plump male teacher asked me.
I quickly thought up an excuse, "Girl problems." That one works every time.
"Oh um alright." The teacher's mood switched quickly, coughing slightly. Men are so clueless.
"Back to the lesson then." He announced awkwardly.
I pulled out my notebook lazily and sat my pencil down on my desk. I really didn't wanna take any notes, my hands always hurt for hours whenever I took notes in this stupid class. Besides, I had a good memory. There was no need to take notes.
My eyes wandered the room since I obviously wasn't going to learn anything there, and my eyes seemed to stop at Jane.
She was sitting right next to me, so I didn't have to turn my whole ass head to look at her. I just glanced her way without turning my head.
She was wearing a very cute outfit consisting light blue jeans and my hoodie. Jane always seemed to be stealing my clothes, but I never got angry. How could I get angry when she looked so cute in them.
I'm too gay to handle this
I found myself talking in my head quite often, usually calling myself out. Oh fuck. Jane's brown eyes met mine and I looked away as quickly as I could.
Why the hell are you acting like some twelve year old girl with a crush? Jane is literally your best friend, it's not a crime to make eye contact.
All of a sudden, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and a little piece of paper was slipped onto my desk. I looked over at Jane, who was obviously the person who tapped me. She made a hand gesture to the paper on my desk, and I picked it up.
It read; I know you weren't actually having girl problems. Why were you late?
I was always so confused as to how the hell Jane always knew when I was lying, but I didn't have any time to make up a conspiracy theory, I needed to reply to her note.
I flipped over the scrap of paper and wrote; It's not that big of a deal, I just slept in.
I passed the paper back to Jane, and watched her as she read it. Jane put the piece of paper in her pocket, and grabbed another one to write something else.
Soon enough, another paper was slipped onto my desk.
It read; Ohh, I knew it was something like that. Your bed head explains it all.
I shook my head at her, rolling my eyes. 'It's not that bad' I mouthed towards the brunette girl.
She reached over to touch my messy hair. My heart rate increased, but I attempted to play it off by rolling my eyes playfully.
Her fingers ran through my hair softly, sending shivers down my spine. Max, you aren't supposed to get all soft.
But it wasn't like I was gonna stop her, I was enjoying it more than I'd like to admit. Something about Jane was just so charming.
I frowned slightly when she stopped playing with my hair, and focused back on the lesson.
I have it bad for Jane. NO I DON'T- I DON'T LIKE A GIRL. Yes I do. No the fuck I don't. Yes the fuck I do.
