Max's POV -

My sleep was interrupted by baby noises and the feeling of something small crawling on top of me. I opened my eyes and saw Delilah looking down at me with a huge smile on her face, like she was excited to see me.

"Go back to sleep stinky." I groaned as I gently pushed her off of me and back onto the bed between me and Jane.

"Mmmmm!" She whined, as if she was about to start crying.

"Don't." I pleaded.

The toddler sat up and stared at me.

"Delilah leave Max alone and go to sleep." Jane spoke groggily.

I looked over at my clock and it was only 6AM. I sighed loudly and rubbed my eyes, knowing Delilah wasn't going back to sleep.

"She's not going back to sleep." I sat up tiredly, looking down at the innocent child. It was hard to be mad at her, especially because she couldn't help waking up early.

"Damn. We hardly got any sleep." Jane sat up as well, and turned on the lamp on the bedside table next to her.

Once everyone could see properly, Delilah looked back and forth between us with a ginormous smile on her face. I couldn't help but smile back, she was so adorable.

- time skip: 2 hrs -

The first couple hours of our morning was pretty tiring, Delilah only ate when we pretended the spoon was an airplane. After breakfast she had us play her favorite game: tag (except nobody actually tags each other and me and Jane just end up chasing Delilah).

Now we were watching a random TV show on the couch, but I wasn't watching the TV, I was watching Delilah struggle to stay awake. She hadn't slept well with us the night before.

"She's really sleepy, I'm going to lay her down for a nap." I told Jane, picking up Delilah and walking out of the living room.

"Are you sure you want to? You had a hard time putting her down last night." Jane questioned, quickly following behind me.

I glanced back at her with a confused and slightly offended expression, "That doesn't mean I can't put her down for a nap.." I replied.

"Okay, good luck then." Jane shrugged and proceeded to hesitantly walk back to the living room.

- time skip: 20 minutes -

Jane and I were sitting on the couch, half asleep, trying to watch the TV. But it was awfully hard to do so because Delilah was crying loudly in her room. I could tell it was taking everything in Jane to not say anything.

"You look like you have something to say, Jane."
I broke the silence between us. She turned her head towards me and raised her eyebrows.

She stared at me for a few seconds before speaking up, "Are you just going to let her cry?"

"I'm trying to let her cry it out, she's obviously really sleepy. I don't know what else to do!" I exclaimed.

"She's been crying it out for almost 20 minutes Max!" Jane snapped back.

"What am I supposed to do??" I rolled my eyes.

Jane sighed heavily as she got up from the couch, "Listen, I'm too tired for this shit right now. I'm going to get her out of her crib." She spoke to me with an aggravated tone, "I don't care if she has to sleep on me every day until your mom gets back, I'm not going to sit in this house and listen to her cry for us when there's absolutely no valid reason we should be forcing her to cry herself to sleep!"
