Max's POV-

After our.. fun.. we took a nap. And it was apparently pretty long because we woke up to the sound of the fire alarm going off.

"HOLY FUCK JANE THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE PUT ON A BRA AND RUN OUTSIDE!" I instructed her frantically as I got out of bed and dashed down the hallway to find the fire and put it out.

There it was. It wasn't a fire but it was a huge cloud of smoke coming out of the oven.

"God damn it!" I exclaimed while grabbing the fire extinguisher from under the sink. I opened the oven, causing it to erupt with even more smoke, and I squeezed the handle of the fire extinguisher. White air stuff shot out of it, making me cough heavily. I was inhaling both the white air and the smoke and it wasn't a good combo. I felt like I was about to throw up. Once I knew I sprayed the smoke enough, I sat the fire extinguisher down and opened all of the windows. Even though there was no fire, the fire alarm was still going off. I grabbed a hand towel and fanned the fire alarm with it.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!" I screamed at the noisy device as if it could hear me.

"MAX WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?" I heard Jane shout from the hallway.

"The cookies burnt!" I answered loudly, continuing to fan the fire alarm. "Are you okay?"

"Am I okay?? The real question is are you ok?" She questioned worriedly as she approached me. "Oh jesus it stinks!" She plugged her nose and coughed a few times.

"My ass is grass Jane.. My moms gonna loose it when she comes home." I groaned, still weakly fanning the circular alarm.

"There's nothing a few fans and-" She paused to cough, "-candles can't do."

After a few more seconds of fanning, the alarm stopped going off and I collapsed onto the floor tiredly. "I might just accept my fate Jane." I groaned on the hardwood floor.

"No, c'mon, grab a fan and I'll grab some candles." She bent down and grabbed my arm to attempt to pull me up. I whined and refused to move. She huffed and put her hands on her hips.

"MAXINE!"

"FINE!"

<time skip: 1 hour>

After setting up five fans, cleaning out the oven, lighting every candle we owned, and throwing the pan in the neighbors trash can, the smell of smoke was gone. It was like it never even happened.

Now we were just relaxing on the couch, proud of our work.

"Good work." I grinned, holding out a hand to Jane. She nodded and high-fived it proudly.

"She'll never even-"

Jane was cut off by the sound of the front door creaking open.

"Hey girls!" My mom walked through the doorframe with a ton of bags in one hand and Delilah in the other.

"Hey mom!" I replied, trying my hardest to act normal. I grabbed a water bottle sitting on the coffee table in front of me and began sipping on it.

"Hey Susan!" Jane smiled. I was almost jealous of how good she was at acting.

"Did you girls have lots of fun?" She questioned excitedly, putting Delilah down in her bouncer beside the couch. I began choking on my water at the question, struggling to not spit any out.

"Yeah! We watched a movie and played a board game." Jane answered. I could tell she was slightly anxious because she knew she wasn't good at lying.

"Oh really? What board game?" My mom sat down on the recliner next to Delilah's bouncer and stared at us both.

"Monopoly." She lied.

My mom cocked an eyebrow and I felt my heart drop when I realized we didn't have monopoly.

"Monopoly? We don't have that game." My mom stated with suspicion.

"I brought it from home." Jane attempted to save herself.

"When? You went to school this morning." My mom was obviously testing Jane at this point.

"I.. brought it over last time I came over."

"Oh how lovely. Do you think you could pull it out? I loved monopoly when I was little."

I watched the life drain out of Jane's eyes.

"I cant.."

"Why is that?"

"..Max spilled milk all over the board, money, and box so I decided to throw it away."

My mom crossed her arms over her chest as she stared into Jane's soul. She definitely knew Jane was lying. I was honestly terrified.

"Jane dear, don't lie to me. I wasn't born yesterday."

"I.." Jane uttered.

"What did you guys do while I was gone that was sooooo mysterious you had to lie about it?" She asked with a grin.

I honestly had no clue what to say. I definitely didn't want to tell her we were having sex while almost burning the house down in the process.

"Mom.." I sighed. I felt Jane's eyes piercing into my head while I was turned towards my mom.

"Promise you wont hate me if I tell you something."

"Why would I hate you?" Her expression softened.

"I'm gay." I blurted, not even meaning to say it out loud. I covered my mouth in regret.

"I already knew that. And I know you're dating Jane." She smiled with a knowing look, "I've heard things.. I've also knocked on your door while you two were naked together, I knocked on the bathroom door while you guys were in the shower together, and Jane basically lives here."

Me and Jane's jaw dropped at the same time. I couldn't believe my mom knew I was gay and dating Jane..

"Well," She sighed contently as she stood up, "At least you guys did it while I was gone this time." She walked into the kitchen, leaving me and Jane shocked and alone with Delilah in the living room.
