Max's POV-
I had a difficult time coming up with ideas on what to get Jane for Christmas, so I came to the party for help. When I reached out to them on my walkie-talkie, Mike answered and said they were all at his house. So I went there.
(an: what a coincidence both of them are having a hard time picking gifts for each other..)
It took about an hour to walk to his house, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I was used to taking long walks all the time.
I finally got to his house and knocked on the door a few times, slightly impatient because I had walked for so long. After a few short moments, Karen, Mike's mom, opened the door with a huge fake smile plastered on her face.
"Oh, what's your name? I remember you!" She exclaimed, examining my face to try and remember who I am.
"I'm Max.." I responded awkwardly, attempting to smile.
"Yes! Max! I remember now. Geez, it's been a while." She sighed, "Are you here to see Mike?"
"Well, not just Mike, the party." I corrected her.
"Ohh, I see. They're in the basement." She moved aside for me to walk in.
"Thanks." I muttered quickly as I rushed past her to go down to the basement. I just wanted to get away from Karen.
As soon as I stepped foot into the basement, the group of boys started cheering and clapping their hands at me.
"What the hell.." I whispered under my breath.
"It's our favorite lesbian!" Dustin shouted with his hands cupped over his mouth as the others continued cheering.
"Okay okay you can stop now!" I yelled, just wanting to cut the bullshit and get some advice.
"Party pooper." Lucas frowned as the rest of the party stopped cheering.
"Listen, I appreciate your admiration for me, but I came here for advice." I said tiredly and walked over to the couch so I could sit. My legs were killing me.
"You didn't come here to hang out with us?" Dustin asked, slightly disappointed.
"I didn't come to Mike Wheelers house just for fun. I love you guys, but I cannot stand this basement. It smells like dirty socks and cologne." I complained.
"Well what are you here for??" Mike asked, annoyed.
"Advice." I replied, "I cant figure out what to give Jane for Christmas."
"Give her the gift of pleasure-"
"MIKE!" Will scolded Mike, cutting him off and slapping his arm. "We've talked about this!"
"Ha ha ha." I laughed sarcastically, "Very funny Mike."
"What?? It's free and better than any other gift you could give her." He defended himself.
"Yeah but it would just make me look lazy. Anyone can think of sex. I wanna think of something special." I responded.
"Fine, if you don't wanna take my genius advice then so be it-"
"Mike. Enough." Will sighed.
"I need actual ideas! I'm desperate. I talked to Steve and the best idea he had was a fucking mistletoe." I shook my head as I recalled the memory.
"He has a point though. Mistletoe is romantic." Dustin pointed out.
"I'm not getting mistletoe." I closed my eyes and laid my head back on the couch, loosing my patience with the boys.
"Find out what her favorite candy is and buy it in bulk." Lucas smiled proudly at his idea.
"Hold on. That's a good idea!" Dustin exclaimed. "Max! You gotta do it!"
"I want it to be more special than that." I groaned.
"How can it get more special than that?" Lucas crossed his arms.
"Lucas are you shitting me?? You think buying her candy in bulk is the best option??" I sighed at his immaturity.
"Listen Max. You came here for advice, and were giving you some. Stop being judgmental-"
"Mike. Stop." Will interrupted him, "Listen Max, Jane would go crazy over anything you give her. Seriously. Maybe just get her a new pair of converse and write 'M + J' on them."
My eyes lit up and I couldn't have sat up faster, "William! You're a genius!" I rushed over to him and hugged him with all of my power. "Thank you thank you thank youuuuu!" I exclaimed, shooting him one last smile before dashing up the stairs of the basement so I could run home and start planning her Christmas present.
