Jodi invited me to dinner tonight, i brought a largemouth bass just like she asked. It was kinda weird for her to invite me, i mean I'm great friends with sam and i hang out with him and vincent a lot but i honestly didn't think she liked me. She told me she saw me and him skating in town and was upset that i took sams side when the mayor came to scold him. Either way its almost 7 and I'm starving, kent waited outside for me to talk to me.
Kent: hey, y/n
Y/N:oh hi kent, i got the bass haha
You lifted the 25in bass to show him, he smiled in surprise over the catch and your ability to hold it so high. He's really tall so its intimidating to talk to him, he's nice though.
Kent:Do you...do you like sam?
Y/N:yeah of course, sams a cool guy! I'm pretty sure everyone likes him
Kent you may have went to war but i will fight you. Dont ask embarrassing questions before or during dinner tonight please. Of course i like sam...who wouldn't? He's so sweet and funny. And even when he tells a joke that isn't funny it still makes everyone around laugh because....he's so proud when he tells a joke. And his hair is so funny to look at when he's playing guitar, it doesn't move an inch. I wonder how much gel he has to use to make it like that. It's probably super rough.
Kent:no, y/n i mean like do you want to be his...person?
Not doing this tonight. I smile and tap kent on the shoulder without responding, as i open the door jodi runs up to me. She seems happy to see me, she turns to the side to glare at her husband.
Jodi:hi y/n! I'm so glad you came and brought such a big catch! Kent usually eats one whole by himself so we always need double the food.
Y/N:well I'm glad it was. A big catch then haha
Sam:hey y/n!
Vincent:y/N!
Vincent jumped on me and hugged tightly. Sam looked at him jealously which made me laugh, i know sam is a hugger. His love language is touch, i only know because the trio and i all took the test to find out. I grabbed vincent and put him on his dads shoulders which was very hard, then hugged sam which made him beam up. He held me tight.
Kent:so that's a yes?
Sam:dad! My love language is touch, they are just making sure i feel appreciated
Jodi:or loved
Y/N:yeah, he's one of my best friends of course i want him to feel loved
They all smiled as did you, dinner was really good. You realized how much you missed having family dinners, the boys all went to watch tv so you stayed back and helped clean up with jodi. She thanked you and you had her sit down for a minute.
Y/N:jodi I'm not gonna lie i swore you hated me
Jodi:no no! I'm just...i guess I'm jealous
Y/N:how?
Jodi:i miss my youth...i missed out on so much because i had sam so early.
Y/N:does it help that I'm happy you had sam? And so are so many people
Jodi:a little. Haha but i still wish i could go out and be young.
Y/N:jodi youre only what 30?
Jodi:40.
Y/N:you still can do stuff.
We talked about how her life wasn't over and i told her I'd babysit Vincent anytime. She smiled and thanked me, i got ready to leave and sam offered to walk me home. We talked about how his dad tried to talk to me outside and what his mom and i talked about in the kitchen. We got to my porch and sam hugged me goodbye. As he walked off i realized i really didn't want him to leave,i ran after him. I caught him at the bus stop.
Sam:what up?
Y/N:can you come over with your guitar?
Sam:HECK YEAH! Do you just want me or the whole band?
Y/N:just you...
Butterflies filled my stomach and he blushed as he ran back to grab his guitar. He came back fairly quickly, his guitar on its strap on his back. He looked so cute as he walked into my house. The lights seemed to hit him perfectly to where his eyes looked like a summer sky. He started to blush and i realized i was just staring at him.
Sam:so..why'd you want me to bring my guitar?
Y/N:i..um i never actually heard just you play.And i remember you telling me about a new song you were working on.
Sam:...y/n...i um the song isn't finished
He looked embarrassed, i felt so bad I didn't know what to say or do. He grabbed my shoulder and made me look at him.
Sam:the song has lyrics I'm just embarrassed to sing them...sorry i lied.
Y/N:you dont have to sing them if you dont want to.
Sam:would...you sing them for me?
No. My voice isn't as good as his. And i cant keep a beat to save my life...fuck he's giving me puppy eyes.
Y/N:I'm a really bad singer.
Sam:oh..um well i dont mind if you dont? I just..i kinda wanna hear you do it.
He handed me a paper that was crumbled and looked kinda old, it had doodles all over it. Mainly hearts and it looked like little guitars with lightning symbols coming out of them. I started to sing as he directed me, i could tell he was holding a laugh behind as i Sang terribly and shaky. It got to the choruse his guitar softened and he sat next to me and started to sing with me.
Y/n&Sam: because i just wanted to tell you I've always wanted to say i love you too
He stopped playing and was just looking at me. He pointed to the title that was under the bent part of the paper, it said "a song for y/n"
Sam:...I'm i uh
Y/N:i already sang it with you but..i love you too, sam.
He hugged me tightly and kissed my cheek.
