Last Timelady In Space

School reunion part three

K9 comes back to life.
"Oh, hey. Now we're in business." The Doctor cheers.
"Master." K9 says.
"He recognises me."
"Affirmative."
"Rose, give him the oil." Ky said the her friend.
"I wouldn't touch it, though. That dinner lady got all scorched." Rose told the Doctor pointing to her neck, where the person in question got burned.
"I'm no dinner lady. And I don't often say that." The Doctor says.
The Doctor sticks his finger in the tube and smears a sample on to K9's probe. "Here we go. Come on, boy. Here we go."
"Oil. Ex ex ex extract. Ana ana analysing." K9 says.
"Listen to him, man. That's a voice." Mickeys says laughing.
"Careful. That's my dog." Sarah tells the man.
"Confirmation of analysis. Substance is Krillitane Oil." K9 tells them.
Kyraiah grimaces. "Oh. They're Krillitanes."
"Is that bad?" Rose says looking at the redheads face.
"Very. Think of how bad things could possibly be, and add another suitcase full of bad." The Doctor says to her.
"And what are Krillitanes?" Sarah asked them both.
"They're a composite race. Just like your culture is a mixture of traditions from all sorts of countries, people you've invaded or have been invaded by. You've got bits of Viking, bits of France, bits of whatever. The Krillitanes are the same. An amalgam of the races they've conquered. But they take physical aspects as well. They cherry pick the best bits from the people they destroy. That's why I didn't recognise them. The last time I saw Krillitanes, they looked just like us except they had really long necks." The Doctor told them. Ky knew what they were but had never seen them.
"What're they doing here?" Rose asked.
"It's the children. They're doing something to the children" Ky snarled.
Ky, Rose and the Doctor come out of the coffee shop after Sarah Jane and Mickey.
"How many of us have there been travelling with you?" Rose asks the Doctor.
"Does it matter?" Ky asks her, from what she had seen no of the other companions meant half as much as Rose did to the Doctor.
"Yeah, it does, if I'm just the latest in a long line." Rose said to her, the Doctor turned to her then wondering what she meant. "As opposed to what?" He asked.
"I thought you and me were. I meant you, me and Raiah. I obviously got it wrong. I've been to the year five billion, right, but this? Now this is really seeing the future. You just leave us behind. Is that what you're going to do to me?" Rose asked him, she had tried cover her slip up but they both caught it. Ky smiled to herself, it was obvious to her how they felt about each other but they just didn't do anything to act on it.
"No. Not to you." The Doctor told Rose.
"But Sarah Jane? You were that close to her once, and now you never even mention her. Why not?" Rose asked him.
"I don't age. I regenerate. It's the same with Kyraiah. But humans decay. You wither and you die. Imagine watching that happen to someone who you..." The Doctor started but couldn't finish.
"What, Doctor?"
"...You can spend the rest of your life with me, but I can't spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on. Alone. That's the curse of the Time Lords." The Doctor finished.
"Alone...why are you going to leave me too dad?" Ky asked suddenly getting teary eyed.
His eyes go wide, suddenly realising what he said, and he went to grab her but she backed away from him. "No I didn't mean, Ky that's not what I meant, it's differ..." he was cut off by her running over to Mickey and Sarah Jane. There's a screeching sound and The Doctor looks up. The giant bat swoops down, nearly grabbing Kyraiah. They all ducked and it flies off.
"Was that a Krillitane?" Sarah asked.
"But it didn't even touch her. It just flew off. What did it do that for?" Rose said confused.
The Doctor just looked at his daughter sobbing in Mickeys arms, the man glaring at the Timelord. Oh how he'd screwed that up. The girl had been abandoned so many times and clearly she thought he was just the same, going to just leave her.

Next morning, the pupils are arriving at the school. The group of five stood within them. Mickey has hold of Ky's hand, she still hasn't spoke to her father and had blocked all telepathic communication, the only thing she hasn't blocked was her emotions and they hurt him to feel. He'd have to talk to her after all this was done and hope to explain himself.
"Rose and Sarah, you go to the Maths room. Crack open those computers, I need to see the hardware inside. Here, you might need this." He says holding out his sonic screwdriver. Rose holds out her hand, but the Doctor gives the screwdriver to Sarah. "Rose, Sarah will you take Ky with you. She can't even look at me." He whispered to them, his face showing all the pain and his hearts audibly breaking.

"Mickey, surveillance. I want you outside."
"Just stand outside?"
"Here, take these you can keep K9 company." Sarah says as she throws Mickey her car keys.
"Don't forget to leave the window open a crack." The Doctor jokes, hoping to see Ky smile. But she doesn't. She just glared at the ground.
"But he's metal!"
"I didn't mean for him."
"What're you going to do?" Rose asked him as she went to grab Kys hand but the girl jerked back and went to go on ahead alone.
"It's time I had a word with Mister Finch." He said after seeing that. It wasn't good, now she wouldn't go near anyone but Mickey. Sarah went and ran after the girl as Rose turned to the Doctor and gulped. "How do we fix that? She flinched away from me. She won't even go near you." Rose asked the Doctor as he swallowed the lump in his throat.
"You two are idiots. That girl there as abandonment issues. She told me about it last night. Her parents, everyone else who was supposed to look after her on your planet, the way she was treated in that museum and then she lost Jack. You even sent her away from platform 500. Now she thinks both of you are going to do the same. She only come to me because we aren't that close and she said and I quote 'everyone that matters leaves me and so will they,' so good luck." Mickey said storming off to Sarah's car.
Meanwhile Sarah was walking with the girl and had managed to get the girl to let her hold her hand. "Come on you let's get into those computers." Sarah said waving the sonic about, Ky got her own out and waves it too smiling slightly. Rose was running to catch up with them and saw Sarah's gentle grip on her hand and swallowed again. They had really messed up.

Sarah isn't making progress with the school computers. Ky is on the other side of the room listening working on a separate computer.
"It's not working." Sarah said.
"Give it to me." Raise said snatching the sonic off of her.
"Used to work first time in my day."
"Well, things were a lot simpler back then."
"Rose, can I give you a bit of advice?" Sarah said to the blonde.
"I've got a feeling you're about to."
"I know how intense a relationship with the Doctor can be, and I don't want you to feel I'm intruding."
"I don't feel threatened by you, if that's what you mean."
"Right. Good. Because I'm not interested in picking up where we left off."
"No? With the big sad eyes and the robot dog? What else were you doing last night?"
"I was just saying how hard it was adjusting to life back on Earth."
"The thing is, when you two met they'd only just got rid of rationing. No wonder all that space stuff was a bit too much for you."
"I had no problem with space stuff. I saw things you wouldn't believe."
"Try me."
"Mummies."
"I've met ghosts."
"Robots. Lots of robots."
"Slitheen, in Downing Street."
"Daleks!"
"Met the Emperor."
"Anti-matter monsters."
"Gas masked zombies."
"Real living dinosaurs."
"Real living werewolf."
"The Loch Ness Monster!"
That was the end of the back and forth and then they started laughing with each other. Ky wanted to smile but just didn't have the energy. She was emotionally drained. "Seriously? Listen to us. It's like me and my mate Shareen. The only time we fell out was over a man, and we're arguing over the Doctor. With you, did he do that thing where he'd explain something at like, ninety miles per hour, and you'd go, what? And he'd look at you like you'd just dribbled on your shirt? The only one I know who can keep up with him is Raiah." Rose said.
"All the time. Does he still stroke bits of the Tardis?" Sarah asked Rose causing more laughter.
"Yeah! Yeah, he does. I'm like, do you two want to be alone? Ky does that too sometimes, sometimes there is both of them doing that." Rose says laughing again. They continued to bond and laugh. The Doctor enters.
"How's it going?" He asks and they keep laughing.
"What? Listen, I need to find out what's programmed inside these."
Hysteria is setting in.
"What? Stop it!" He whines. Ky looks over at him and wants to go and hug him, and that is exactly what she finds her feet doing.
When she quickly latched on the Doctor smiled holding her tight. He kissed the top of her head multiple times. She finally lets go and looks at him.
Her blue eyes look emotional but yet drained. He knows it's going to be another night of him holding onto her as she falls asleep in his arms, just like he imagined she would if she was a very young child. 
He doesn't mind though, at least she was going near him again.
When he thinks she was going to just walk away, she grabbed his large hand with her smaller one.
