Ever since 1879, Ky hadn't been allowed to really go anywhere on her own. It was the Doctors way of punishing her and protecting her at the same time. So after Rose got a call from Mickey about some strange stuff going down near a school, Ky was made to stick close to the Doctors side unless he told her otherwise.
That meant when he posed as a physics teacher, she had to pretend to be his teaching assistant. Fun, not.

"Good morning, class. Are we sitting comfortably?" The Doctor says as the pair walk into the classroom. Ky goes straight to the desk to sit down. She takes out her pad to pretend to take notes but in reality she sits and draws the entire time. She was working on a drawing of her dad and Rose laughing around the Tardis console. She had nearly finished sketching it, so when she got home to the Tardis she was going to look for her soft pastels, she had found them in the Tardis.
The Doctor walks to the whiteboard and writes physics.
"So, physics. Physics, eh? Physics. Physics. Physics! Physics. Physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics, physics. I hope one of you is getting all this down. Okay let's see what you know. Two identical strips of nylon are charged with static electricity and hung from a string so they can swing freely. What would happen if they were brought near each other?" The Doctor says as he paces slightly then a young boy with spectacles puts his hand up. "Yes, er, what's your name?" The Doctor asks him.
"Milo."
"Milo! Off you go."
"They'd repel each other because they have the same charge."
"Correctamundo!..." The Doctor says earning a groan from the redhead as she face palms, he casts her a look to agree with what she was thinking the turns back to the class "...A word I have never used before and hopefully never will again. Question two. I coil up a thin piece of microwire and place it in a glass of water. Then I turn on the electricity and measure to see if the water's temperature is affected. My question is this. How do I measure the electrical power going into the coil?" The Doctor asks leaning against the desk crossing his arms.
Just one hand goes up. Milo again. Everyone else looks totally bored.
"Someone else. No? Okay, Milo, go for it." The Doctor says to the boy.
"Measure the current and PDs in an ammeter and a voltmeter."
"Two to Milo. Right then, Milo, tell me this. True or false. The greater the dampening of the system, the quicker it loses energy to its surroundings."
"False."
Ky looks at him suspiciously and then to the Doctor who is looking at her and he nods, letting her ask a couple questions.
"Milo, what is non-coding DNA?" Ky asks him.
"DNA that doesn't code for a protein." This was impossible.
"Sixty five thousand nine hundred and eighty three times five?" She says just to see how quick he could reply.
"Three hundred and twenty nine thousand nine hundred and fifteen." He says back automatically.
"How do you travel faster than light?" The Doctor says jumping in.
"By opening a quantum tunnel with an FTL factor of thirty six point seven recurring."
The Doctor's jaw drops as he turns to his daughter who is shaking her head in disbelief.

In the canteen chips are still on the menu here. A young blonde slops mash into the Doctor's tray. Ky smiles at her as she slops some on her tray too. They walk away with a grin. A little later she goes over to wipe their table.
"Two days." Rose says to them.
"Sorry, could you just? There's a bit of gravy." The Doctor says to wind her up, then points elsewhere when she wipes it up. "No, no, just, just there." Ky slaps his arm rather hard and looks to Rose "Ignore him, he's being a moron."
"Two days, we've been here." Rose says to the pair.
"Blame your boyfriend. He's the one who put us onto this. And he was right. Boy in class this morning, got a knowledge way beyond planet Earth." The Doctor says pointing at her with a chip. Ky takes a bite out of one and instantly spits it back out on to a tissue. They were disgusting.
"You eating those chips?" Rose says to both of them.
"Yeah, they're a bit different." The Doctor says examining one.
"They are vile. Here rose have mine." Ky says pushing them towards the blonde.
"I think they're gorgeous. Wish I had school dinners like this." Rose says happily munching on the chips.
"It's very well behaved, this place." The Doctor says looking around, Ky has to agree. It was not what she was expecting.
"Mmm." Was all Rose said still munching on the chips.
"I thought there'd be happy slapping hoodies. Happy slapping hoodies with ASBOs. Happy slapping hoodies with ASBOs and ringtones. Huh? Huh? Oh, yeah. Don't tell me I don't fit in." The Doctor says. Ky gives him a look and whilst staring at him in the eye flatly replies. "You don't fit in." The Doctor just frowns at her as she smirks and Rose chuckles.
The head dinner lady comes over to Rose "You are not permitted to leave your station during a sitting."
"I was just talking to this teacher and his teaching assistant." Rose told the head dinner lady
"Hello." They both say giving a little wave.
"They don't like the chips." Rose tells her.
The dinner lady gave the Timelords a look of disbelief "The menu has been specifically designed by the headmaster to improve concentration and performance. Now, get back to work." She says the last bit looking at Rose.
"See? This is me. Dinner lady." Rose says walking away and does a little spin.
"I'll have the crumble." The Doctor shouts to her.
"I'm so going to kill you." Rose says as Ky slaps him hard, again. To be honest she didn't like it here. Something was wrong and she didn't like it on bit. A teacher walks over to a girl with a pony tail, "Melissa. You'll be joining my class for the next period. Milo's failed me, so it's time we moved you up to the top class. Kenny, not eating the chips?" Kenny is eating a home prepared lunch from a Tupperware box.
"I'm not allowed." He says.
"Luke. Extra class. Now." The teacher says turning to another student.
Luke and Melissa follow the teacher out. Headmaster Finch stands on a balcony overlooking the canteen and watches it all. Ky sees the headmaster and taps her fathers attention, when he looks at her and away from the slowly retreating backs of the two students and their teacher, she gives him a subtle nod to where the creepy headteacher is. He just nods back, seeing him watching everyone.
In the staff room, the duo where talking to another teacher, Mr Parsons, and he was on about one of his students. "Yesterday, I had a twelve year old girl give me the exact height of the Walls of Troy...in cubits."
"And, it's ever since the new headmaster arrived?" Ky asked him.
"Finch arrived three months ago. Next day, half the staff got flu. Finch replaced them with that lot, except for the teacher you two replaced, and that was just plain weird, her winning the lottery like that."
"How's that weird?"
"She never played. Said the ticket was posted through her door at midnight." Both Timelords looked at each other.
"Hmm. The world is very strange." The Doctor thought out loud.
The Headmaster enters with a older woman. "Excuse me, colleagues. A moment of your time. May I introduce Miss Sarah Jane Smith. Miss Smith is a journalist who's writing a profile about me for the Sunday Times. I thought it might be useful for her to get a view from the trenches, so to speak. Don't spare my blushes." He says and leaves.
"Dad is that who I think it is?" Ky whispers to her father as she walks over.
"Hello." Sarah says to the pair, the Doctor grinning like a madman answers her with the weirdest thing. "Oh, I should think so."
Quickly trying to save him, Ky says "Hello, He means hello, his brain is else where today. It's turned him into somewhat of a moron." This makes Sarah chuckle at the quick witted redhead.
"And, you two are?" Sarah says looking between the pair.
"Hm? Er, Smith. John Smith." The Doctor says.
"John Smith. I used to have a friend who sometimes went by that name."
"Well, it's a very common name."
"He was a very uncommon man. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you. Yes, very nice. More than nice. Brilliant."
"What about you?" Sarah asks staring at the highly amused looking redhead.
"Kyraiah McCrimmon, I'm his teaching assistant. Sorry about him, he gets over excited very easily" Ky said, using the fake last name from 1879 and smiling at the brunette in front of them.
"Er, so, er, have you two worked here long?" She asks the pair, looking between them she can see they are very close. Sarah thinks she must have been his assistant for a while if she's able to cover his strange behaviour so easily.
"No. Er, it's only our second day." Ky tells her, seen as the Doctor can't seem to get any words out due to the massive grin that is stretched across his face.
"Oh, you're new, then. So, what do you think of the school? I mean, this new curriculum? So many children getting ill. Doesn't that strike you as odd?" Sarah asks her only for the Doctor to answer this time. "You don't sound like someone just doing a profile."
"Well, no harm in a little investigation while I'm here." Sarah tells them with a smile.
"No. Good for you." He says with a strange grin again. Sarah moves away from the scarily grinning Doctor.
"Good for you. Oh, good for you, Sarah Jane Smith." He says as she retreats. Ky elbows him in the stomach.
"Good job dad, you scared her, see moron" she says, the last two words in an almost indecipherable mumble.
