Set in the Scorch Trials au
———-
It was the green eyed monster, coiling angrily inside her chest as she silently stared at Thomas and Teresa. She didn't like the dark haired girl in their group, finding her a stubborn obstacle. Brenda watched as Teresa gently helped Thomas get up, her soft hand on his back and stared at him with worried blue eyes.

"Tom, are you ok?" She whispered, softly as she moved closer to him. Her small hands cradled his face, searching for any injuries as she remembered him collapsing onto the club floor.
Thomas silently stared at her, mesmerised by her beautiful blue eyes as he leaned into her warm touch.

"We have to stop meeting like this." She muttered with a slight laugh as she stared at him.
He chuckled at her words, softly smiling at her as he unknowingly moved closer to her.

"You need to stop getting yourself hurt, Tom." She whispered, quietly as she released his face and frowned at him. She didn't like seeing him hurt.
"I have you to take care of me...." He muttered, softly as he already missed her warmth. He slowly grabbed her wrist, caressing her soft skin with his thumb and softly kissed it.

Her cheeks flushed red at his actions, noticing he still held her wrist as she felt herself becoming lost in his brown eyes.
He smirked at her red flushed cheeks, loving her reaction to his touch as he stared at her.

Brenda gritted her teeth, watching the two gazing into each other's eyes longingly as she remembered what happened at the club.
He rejected her. Her hands clenched, remembering the disappointed and stunned look on his face as he abruptly pulled away.
She wasn't her.

It was obvious, he only wanted Teresa.
She was bitter, noticing the soft expression on his face towards Teresa as jealousy spread through her chest. When they were travelling in the truck to the Right Arm, she saw the two looking at each other but not saying anything as the other gladers found this to be normal. It was strange.

A sudden giggle from Teresa would be heard as she lightly hit Thomas's arm, making Thomas grin at her. Brenda noticed the other gladers snickering at the two, Minho mumbling loved up shanks under his breath as if the sight was amusing to them.

Her eyes narrowed, annoyed as she watched Thomas protectively shield Teresa when the gunshots rang into the air from the Right Arm. Teresa instinctively stayed close to Thomas, feeling safer with him as she saw Aris talking with the two girls with shotguns.

The coiling snakes grew stronger and angrier when she saw Thomas didn't want Gally to hurt Teresa during the interrogation, his brown eyes were darkened as he determinedly told Gally to back off. Teresa stared at Thomas longingly, wanting to stay with him but she knew she couldn't as tears blurred her vision.

Brenda couldn't take it anymore, wanting Thomas for herself as she ignored the hidden soft glimmer in his brown eyes towards Teresa. When he was getting ready for the mission to rescue Minho, she quietly helped him with the equipment.

Bitterness and jealousy spread through her chest, remembering hungrily slanting her mouth against his as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He didn't kiss back, the lips pressed against his felt foreign and unwanted as he stood frozen.

His mind was full of beautiful blue eyes and dark raven hair, desperately wishing he was kissing her soft pink lips. Brenda could never be her. He abruptly pulled away from Brenda, avoiding her gaze as tension filled the air.
"I'm sorry, Brenda....I can't....I don't...." Thomas muttered, quietly as his words trailed away and stared at the ground.

"Why her!" Brenda whispered, angrily as she felt the frustration explode in her chest. She didn't understand how he could still care about Teresa, even after what she did.

He didn't reply, his jaw clenched as he tried to erase the mesmerising image of the blue eyed beauty from his head. It was undeniable, their deep bond was still there as he realised he missed her.
