Set in the Maze Runner au
———-
Sounds of metal scraping against metal filled the silence as the box slowly ascends. She woke up to the feel of the cage moving, confused as she stared into the darkness of her surroundings. Teresa touched the walls of the cage, her heart beating faster in fear as she shakily curled up into a ball.

She stared even more confused as her hand clutched a piece of paper. Her blue eyes instantly filled with tears, not fully understanding what was happening as she couldn't remember anything.

The box stopped, faint sounds of talking could be heard above as beams of sunlight hit her face. Teresa slowly looked up at thirty boys staring down at her, disbelief and confusion plastered across their faces as she retreated further in the corner. A blonde boy jumped down, continuing to stare at her as he stepped forward.

"It's a girl." The blonde boy spoke, British accent in his voice as he looked back up at the boys. The mumbling of boys started again as they looked at the first girl in the glade in awe. The blonde boy turned to look at her, gentle smile on his face as he slowly approached her. She was trembling, a leaked tear escaped her blue eyes as she whimpered in fear.

"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. Just going take you out of this box. It's alright." The blonde boy spoke, slightly crouching as he saw her fear. A small smile grew on his face, extending out his hand as he waited for her to take it. She shakily grabbed his hand as he lifted her and himself out of the box.

The boys approached her, silently watching her as she nervously took in her surroundings.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Newt and your the first girl here. Welcome to the glade." The blonde boy spoke, intrigued as he saw her look at all the boys.

Her blue eyes landed on familiar brown eyes, pleasant tingles spread through her body as she felt a unknown connection to the said boy staring back at her.
"Thomas?" Teresa spoke, softly as she stepped towards him. A sudden headache pierced her temples, causing her to clutch the sides of her head as she scrunched her eyes closed.

Thomas stared at the girl with beautiful blue eyes, drawn to her for some unknown reason as his face quickly twisted into a shocked look when she uttered his name. Disbelief clouded his brown eyes, hearing the loud whispers of the Gladers as they were now staring at him.

He suddenly saw her hold her head in pain and anguish, her pink lips trembled as she shakily swayed. Thomas frantically ran to her, his chest filled with worry as he caught her in his arms before she hit the ground.

All the Gladers quickly surrounded them, staring at Thomas cradling the girl's face in concern before he scooped her up into his arms. Alby watched Thomas gently carry the unconscious girl to the Med-Jack's hut, intrigued as he concluded that those two must have known each other.

Thomas silently stared at the girl in his arms, feeling like she was familiar as he carried her. She was mesmerising, her dark raven hair sprayed across his forearms and soft pink lips brushed against his chest. He briefly heard Newt and Minho following behind him as he lay her down on the bed and watched Jeff check for any injuries.

"Anything?" Newt spoke, staring at the unconscious girl as he crossed his arms across his chest.
"She's fine. Just this note in her hand." Jeff responded, relieved as he slowly handed the note to Newt. Newt took the piece of paper, feeling Thomas and Minho looking over his shoulder as he quietly opened the note.

"She's the last one ever." Newt spoke, confused as he briefly stared back at the unconscious girl.
"That's ominous" Minho whispered, also confused as he glanced at the first girl glader. Thomas silently stared at the sleeping blue eyed beauty, feeling like she held all the answers.

"Do you know her?" Minho asked, intrigued as he remembered the girl spoke Thomas's name.
"No." Thomas responded, softly as he continued to stare at her. He didn't remember her yet felt like he knew her.

"She apparently knows you." Newt answered, firmly as he spotted the concern look on Thomas's face. There was silence for a while as they stared at the first girl they ever seen and their minds swirled with what this meant.

Groans and shuffling quickly broke the silence, the girl's blue eyes opened and she abruptly jolted up. All heads snapped to her, causing her to retreat backwards on the bed as she nervously glanced at the boys in front of her.

Thomas intently watched the girl retreat in fear, feeling himself becoming lost in her beautiful blue eyes as their eyes locked. He calmly approached her, a soft glimmer in his brown eyes as he sat down next to her.

Teresa quickly fisted her hands, raising them in the air in self defence as she watched him sit down. He smirked at her actions, finding them adorable as he slowly raised his hands in surrender.

"It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. This all might seem confusing but you'll remember your name in couple of days. It's th—" Thomas spoke, softly as he saw her blue eyes flicker to his friends then back to him.

"Teresa. My name is Teresa." She cut him off, feeling strangely safe with this brown eyed boy. Teresa moved slightly closer to the boy, drawn to him for some unknown reason as she intently stared at him. He paused at her quick response as he silently stared back at her.
"Teresa, my name is Thomas....but you already knew that...." He answered, slowly as he unknowingly moved closer to her.

"Do you know anything about this note?" Newt asked, amused at Thomas's actions towards Teresa as he broke their staring match.
"No." She responded, quietly as she glanced at Newt. Her body slightly trembled, thinking about the note as visions of drowning and blurry faces entered her mind.

Thomas saw her beautiful blue eyes instantly fill with unshed tears, worried about her reaction as he desperately moved to comfort her.
"You ok, Teresa?" He muttered, softly as he placed his hand on hers. She meekly nodded, loving his soothing touch as she laced her fingers with his.

Teresa stared down at their hands clasped together, finally feeling peace since she arrived as she happily absorbed his warmth. Thomas felt heat rise onto his cheeks at her actions, hearing Newt and Minho snickering behind him but never wanting to let go of her hand.
