"You were in love with her, right?" Brenda spoke, curiously as she glanced at him then back at the guns. She hoped he would prove her wrong, not wanting to believe he still cared about Teresa even after what she did.

His jaw clenched, feeling his chest ache at the treasured memories of him and Teresa came flooding back into his mind. He didn't reply, words clogged in his throat as he knew the truth deep down. The mesmerising image of the blue eyed beauty was still stuck in his head from spying afar through the scope.

"You'll see her there, Tom." Brenda spoke again, quietly as she watched him reloading his guns. She noticed he didn't reply to her question, making her more curious and slightly frustrated. There was no progress in getting closer to him than just friendship.

"Don't call me that." Thomas muttered, coldly as he glanced at Brenda then went back to preparing his equipment. There was only one person who called him that name and he wanted it to stay that way. The memory of her angelic smile directed towards him, happily speaking his new nickname as they enjoyed the fresh air together on the treehouse flashed through his mind.

Sometimes he wished he could press pause on life in those sweet moments. He quickly snapped out of his dreamlike trance, noticing he finished reloading his gun. The topic was precious to him, something he kept hidden since they separated.

Brenda's face became expressionless, noticing he was avoiding looking in her direction as her eyes narrowed. She thought that with Teresa gone, Thomas would start to like her more than just friends but his attraction to Teresa was only growing stronger in her absence.

He could deny it all he wanted, the sad look in his brown eyes couldn't lie as he spied through the scope earlier.
"Do you still?" Brenda whispered, hesitantly as she stared at him. She noticed him quickly stiffen at her words, staring at his gun as silence filled the air.

"It's time to go meet the others...." He muttered, quietly as he tightened his hold on his weapon and walked away. His chest ached again, desperately trying to erase the memories of her beautiful blue eyes sparkling with delight whenever they met his back in the glade from his mind.

Brenda gritted her teeth, irritated as she spotted the hidden soft glimmer in his brown eyes at the mention of Teresa before he left the room. His silence answered for him, he was still in love with her.
